2 Sacred Heart - St. Patrick s, Eau Claire, Wisconsin 2 Readings for the week of Sunday: Is 55: 6-9 Ps 145:2-3,8-9,17-18 Phil 1: 20c-24, 27a Mt 20: 1-16a Monday: Ezr 1: 1-6 Ps 126: 1-6 Lk 8: Tuesday: Ezr 6: 7-8, 12b, Ps 122: 1-5 Lk 8: Wednesday : Eph 4: 1-7, Ps 19: 2-5 Mt 9: 9-13 Thursday: Hg 1: 1-8 Ps 149: 1-6, 9 Lk 9: 7-9 Friday: Hg 2: 1-9 Ps 43: 1-4 Lk 9:18-22 Saturday: Zec 2: 5-9, 14-15a (Ps) Jer 31: Lk 9: 43b-45 Sunday: Ez 18: Ps 25: 4-9 Phil 2: 1-11 Mt 21: Dear Parishioners, These past weeks have been and are always some of the busiest of the year for families and organizations that structure their activities around the school calendar. The many activities that fill our days and evenings can leave us stressed and longing for some peace. My life too, can and does become hectic at this time of year and it is during this time that I need to be even more consistent in my prayer. It is so easy to get caught up in our lives and fail to stop and spend time with God. The ironic thing is that if we would spend the time in prayer in a consistent and dedicated way, the other things of our lives would go more smoothly because of the grace of our Lord that accompanies us in all things. The more we are connected on a personal level, the more open we are to the grace that makes us more patient, kind, thoughtful, understanding, and loving. This means that the moments that often stress us the most; where we become less then patient, not so kind, stubborn, and uncompassionate, would now be filled with that grace that comes not from us, but from our Lord. I was recently reminded how hard it is to change our habits when I went to the doctors recently. As some of you know, I had a bout with kidney stones when studying in D.C. this summer. My local doctors want me to do what should be some minor changes to diet, particularly drinking more water. I start with all the good intentions and soon find myself most of the way through the day without drinking much of anything. We are creatures of habit and our prayer life is not so different then the other daily routines. When placed firmly in our lives, it becomes an important and vital part; when only an ideal, a wish, it often falls by the wayside. I encourage you to become more spiritually healthy by adding regular and consistent prayer to your life. It will be hard to start, but if you succeed you will be a happier, spiritually healthier and a more holy person. In Christ, Fr. Bill Dhein Baptism Classes. Parents who will be having a child baptized are required to attend one of the Baptism classes. Scheduled dates: Nov. 18, 2011 and Jan.20, Classes will be held at the Parish Center at 6:30pm. Please call the parish office, when you wish to schedule your class date. We recommend that you attend these classes during your pregnancy, before your baby is born. Baptisms are scheduled on the 2nd weekend of the month at Masses or other times by appointment. MONTH 5: Developing Baby Mommy felt me kick today! Spiritual Adoption Program- Your spiritually adopted baby weighs over one pound now, and his/her mother can feel the child's movement. Before this time your little one was too small for her to feel. Although he/she swam with ease in his/her watery world, he/she needed to be big and strong enough to kick hard against the outside wall and dent it - - the inside wall of the uterus has little feeling. We are mid-way through the pregnancy now. Your prayers have helped your baby s mother continue with her pregnancy and seek the help she needs.
