Please call the parish office, when you wish to schedule your class date. A heartfelt thanks goes out to all parishioners and friends who assisted in making our Steubenville Pilgrimage possible. Through your prayers and support of all our fundraisers, you assisted in helping the youth to encounter Jesus in a very special way. From June 20-24, 17 youth, 5 chaperones and Fr. George adventured into a Youth Pilgrimage to Steubenville, Ohio, to attend a youth conference there. On the way, we experienced a Byzantine Mass at Christ the Bridegroom Monastery, in Burton, Ohio, and did some yard work for them. We then headed to the conference where the youth were exposed to great speakers, wonderful entertainment, powerful worship, prayer, Mass and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Topics like truth, chastity, modesty and prayer were covered. Through all these things the youth were strengthened in their Catholic faith, encouraged to pray and reminded over and over of the love God has for them! On our way home we stopped at Sandusky, Ohio, and went to the Cedar Point amusement park, the roller coaster capital of the world many said their prayers that afternoon! Once we drove through the night we made a stop at Holy Hill in Milwaukee for Mass and individual blessings and made a final stop at the St. Philomena Shrine near Wisconsin Dells to reverence her relic and learn about this powerful saint! Overall the youth had a really good time meeting new friends and hanging out in a bus for a long time! To learn more about the trip and see more pictures, go to our parish website at Fr. George Said, It was my first trip to a Steubenville youth conference it was an amazing experience to pray and spend time with our youth. I invite all of our youth to consider next year being part of this spiritual/fun trip. My heartfelt thanks to Anne Henriksen, Shelly Kern, Angie Larrabee, and Robbie Penate for being chaperones to the trip, and a special note of thanks to Michelle for pulling it all together. 4 Community Events Let s Hit the Trail! Register for Sonshine Days (VBS), July at St. James the Greater Parish. This year s theme will be SonWest Roundup where we will lead your buckaroos to Jesus! Sonshine Days is open to any child 3 years 12 years old (must be 3 by January 2013). Registration and volunteer forms can be found on our website: ST. PETER S IN TILDEN will be having their annual Shin-Dig on Sunday, July 21, Following the 10:00 am Mass, a charcoal chicken dinner will be served from 11am until 4pm. Bingo starts at 12:30pm. Live music, kid s games, silent auction, country store and many other family activities throughout the afternoon. Taste of Tilden cookbooks are available. We are handicap accessible. WOMEN OF FAITH Believe God Can Do Anything conference in St. Paul, Friday and Saturday, Oct , We will leave St. James Church and stay at the Fairfield Inn. SISTER CATHERINE will be celebrating her 18th year anniversary as a Benedictine Sister on July 11, Please keep her in your prayers. The Year of Faith continues! We have 2 Year of Faith Crosses that have been traveling to different parishioners homes since October. We are still in need of volunteers who would be willing to take the Traveling Cross for a week and pray for the Universal Church. Please sign up in the back of church or call Liz in the office to help out. We are currently filling spots in July and August. EUCHARISTIC ADORATION. We have made some changes to our Adoration schedule during the summer. In July, Adoration is moved to Thursday, July 11. Mass will be at 12 noon in the Benedictine Chapel, followed by Exposition; Rosary prayed at 2pm; Divine Mercy Chaplet prayed at 3pm; Benediction at 5pm. We need at least 2 people present per hour: please sign up in the back of Church or outside the chapel if you can commit to an hour. Blessed be God in his Angels and in his Saints. If you can HELP WITH SETUP, GRILLING or CLEANUP, please call Jeanne Reber, , or sign up in back of the churches. As of JULY 13, 2013, BINGO WILL BE HELD IN ST. PAT- RICK S CAFETERIA instead of Sacred Heart Church Hall. The time of Bingo games will remain the same. St. Patrick s is handicapped friendly. CALLING ALL YOUNG ADULTS! The Young Adult ministries of St. Mary s in Altoona and Sacred Heart St. Patrick in Eau Claire are teaming up to sponsor some summer events. All young adults (ages 20-39) in the Chippewa Valley are welcome. Here is what we have lined up so far: Sunday, July 14: Picnic and cookout from 11am to 4pm at Pine Pavilion in Carson Park. Meat will be provided; bring your own beverage, a dish to share, and any lawn games you may have. Kids are welcome! Sunday, Aug. 18: Attend Mass together in Chippewa Falls, grab some lunch, then float down the river to Loopy s. Still to be scheduled: possible pilgrimage.
