Lenten regulations are as follows: 1. Catholics who have celebrated their 14th birthday are to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, all Fridays in Lent, and Good Friday. 2. In addition to abstaining from meat, Catholics who have celebrated their 59th birthday, are to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Those who are bound to this regulation may eat only one full meal. Two smaller meals are permitted if necessary to maintain strength ac cording to one s needs, but eating solid foods between meals is not permitted. Masses/Distribution of Ashes Wednesday, Feb. 21 8:00 Sacred Heart Church 12 St. Patrick Church 7:00 Sacred Heart Church The collection on Ash Wednesday will be for the Charity Fund, to help those who need assistance Please call the parish office to make arrangements Baptism Classes. Parents who will be having a child baptized, will be required to attend one of the Baptism classes. Scheduled dates: March 23, 2007, May 25, July 27, 2007, September 28. Classes will be held at the Parish Center at 6:30pm. Please call the parish office, when you wish to schedule your class date. You DO NOT have to wait until your baby is born. Parents may take the class during the pregnancy. NOON MASS & LENTEN LUNCHES will begin on Friday, Feb. 23. If you would like to volunteer to cook one of the lunches (meatless, of course), there are 6 Fridays that we will need a lunch prepared. This is a great opportunity to share your favorite Lenten lunch. If you would like to volunteer or have any questions, please call Judy at KEEP IN MIND!!!! We will not be sitting as class, so please sit as a family. Classes will resume Wednesday, Feb. 28th. A Steubenville meeting for all those interested in attending this year s conference will be held Feb. 21 at 6pm in St. Patrick s Benedictine Room. We still have a few seats available. CONGRATULATIONS to Henry David Brunner, son of Keith and Tracy Brunner, who was baptized into our faith community on Sunday, February 11th. God bless your family. THANK YOU to Patti Thompson for her generous contribution to the music program by donating a digital piano to Sacred Heart St. Patrick to be used at Sacred Heart Church. This weekend it will be used to accompany the Sacred Heart St. Patrick Wind Ensemble at both 4pm Mass and 10:30am Mass. Faith and begorrah! Sacred Heart St. Patrick s is celebrating St. Patrick s Day on Sat., March 17, with a dinner & raffle from 4:30pm to 7pm at St. Pat s cafeteria, 322 Fulton St. Roast, Glazed Corned Beef, Cabbage, Potatoes & Carrots, Salad, Rolls, Dessert & Beverage at $7.00 for adults, $4.00 for children Spaghetti is the alternate selection. Beer and wine are available for purchase. Music & entertainment provided. THANK YOU for your support during Soup-er Bowl Sunday. Your generosity netted us $1, One third of that will go to the parish Charity Fund and the balance towards expenses for Community Table and Beacon House. Our Social Justice committee thanks all of you. COMMUNITY TABLE. Our turn will be coming up Tuesday evening, Feb. 20. We are asking anyone who has a Christmas turkey left in their freezer that they don t want, to let us know, as we plan to serve roasted turkey in February. Contact St. Anthony s at (715) OPERATION RICE BOWL For 32 years Operation Rice Bowl has been extending the love of the Catholic Community in the U.S. to our neighbors in developing nations around the world. RICE BOWL is Catholic Relief Services Lenten program that helps us be one with our brothers and sisters in other countries through prayers, activities, and offerings. As we pray, we recognize how Jesus is present to those who suffer. When we fast, we understand how devastating hunger can be. We learn how much is being done by Catholic Relief Services to provide clean drinking water, basic health care, good farming techniques, and incomeproducing projects. And we give in honor of the many blessings we have received so that others may have life. Our community is participating in Operation Rice Bowl this Lent. Some of those performing are: Eau Claire Male Chorus, The Glory Sounds, Planet Swing, State Street and the Northernairs. Jerry Gallagher from WQOW TV is the host. The event is free, but a free will offering will be taken. The Male Chorus will be saluting all branches of the armed forces, so veterans are encouraged to attend. SAVE YOUR OLD CELL PHONES and bring them to Church and put them in the box in back of Church. Our parish is sent a check for the old cell phones that we send for the company to recycle. This is a great way to get rid of your old cell phones and for the parish to receive some extra money. Only the phone/battery is needed. We do not need cases or any of the accessories. Thank you for your participation. HOME HOSPICE of ST. JOSEPH S HOSPITAL serving Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire and the surrounding communities is having a free of charge Spring Home Hospice Training Program. This will be held at St. Joseph s on Sat., March 3 from 8:30am to 4:30pm and on Sat., March 10 from 8:30am to 3:30pm, (lunches included), in Anderson Conference Room. Both sessions are required for training. Male and female volunteers, in a 50 mile radius, are needed. If you have any questions please call Kris Martineau, Hospice Volunteer Coordinator at Pre-registration is required. FISH FRY at Lima-Holy Rosary Parish rural Durand, is serving baked and batter fried fish from 4:30pm to 7:30pm on Friday, Feb. 23. Handicapped accessible. ST. PETER S IN TILDEN is having a Bingo party on Sunday, Feb. 25th beginning with games at 2pm and lunch at 4pm of Meat Balls, Potatoes, Gravy, Salads, Cake & Bars and beverages. E-QUIT SMOKING PROGRAM is offered at St. Joseph s Hospital in Chippewa. Following the initial assessment, weekly lessons will be ed to individuals, with opportunities for questions, concerns and progress reports via . You can start anytime. Cost is $50. Call Respiratory Therapy at St. Joseph s Hospital, for more information. Grace at Meals. Saying grace at mealtime is an excellent way to practice conversational prayer as a family. Help your children focus on thoughts to include in their prayers by talking about them before you begin. Think and discuss together the problems or pressures various family members are facing, needs among friends or neighbors, as well as genuine gratefulness for the meal on the table. Start by praying around the table once, then grow to two or three times as everyone s ease in talking to God.
