4 Faith Formation News: Baptismal Preparation Program Sunday, September 9th at 8:30am at Sacred Heart Before the celebration of baptism, the Church expects parents and sponsors to be formed in the meaning of the Sacrament as well as its responsibilities (Canon 851). The group will meet in the lower level of the office building. If you are interested in having a child baptized, please contact the parish office by phone or to find out more information and register to attend class. This is the last scheduled class for We will meet at the St. Charles Run with the Nuns 5K on Labor Day in Portsmouth. You can register to run or walk here: runningnuns.com. For more information regarding the new running club, contact Julia Neily at Jneily603@aol.com. We had a great turnout of all ages at our first gathering on Sunday. Join us for our next run/walk on the Mascoma Greenway before the AppleFest on Sunday, Sept. 9th from 10:45am-11:30am. We are in the process of forming a Youth Choir that will eventually sing once a month at Sacred Heart at the 9:30am Mass. Music is a great tool for catechesis. If you are interested in listening, leading, singing or participating in some other way, call Amy in the office and she will set up an organizational meeting. We welcome new members at this meeting. The mission is to formulate a long term approach (three year plan) to comply and fulfill the Bishop's vision of Lifelong Faith Formation. 5 What is the RCIA? RCIA stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and it is the process through which people join or complete their initiation into the Catholic Church. Is the RCIA for me? The RCIA is for three groups of people: 1. Those who are not baptized. 2. Those who were baptized into another Christian denomination and wish to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church. 3. Baptized Catholics who were never formed in the Catholic faith and have not completed their initiation; that is, who have received neither of the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. The RCIA program at Sacred Heart will begin in September. If you are interested in acquiring more information about the program or signing up, please call the parish office. Seminaria Scrip Dear Sacred Heart Parish community, On August 16 th I will be finishing my summer internship at DHMC and then going back to Saint Francis, WI to continue my studies for the priesthood. As the end of my time at Sacred Heart parish comes to an end, I would like to express my deep sense of gratitude in first place to Fr. Charles, the pastor of this community. I am truly grateful for his willingness to welcome me as a resident at the rectory this summer and for his generosity and companionship all throughout my experience here in New Hampshire. I d also like to thank each one of you for welcoming me as a faith community. I am grateful to God for every single one of you that I got to meet personally this summer. It was a blessing to celebrate the Lord s day with you and other activities throughout the week! I would like to assure you of my prayers, that the Lord may return in blessings all the kindness and graciousness you showed to me!
