We offer you the opportunity to gather with us and others throughout the country in Prayers for Life. On this day, we celebrate a unique grace that was poured into a human life at the very moment of conception: the grace given Mary to be conceived without original sin, the Immaculate Conception. What more powerful example do we need in order to understand that life does begin at conception. I ask you to join me and others from our community in an evening of prayer and adoration for all life. Just as Mary was blessed from the moment of her conception so may all people come to respect the gift of life that comes from God. A gift that starts at the moment of conception and should be respected until God chooses to take that life back to Himself. I ask that parents might come and pray for their children, and children for their parents. I would hope that all would remember those lives lost to abortion and those lost to miscarriage. To take time and appreciate your life and give thanks for your very breath. Please join us for evening mass at 7:00pm followed by prayers and music until a little after midnight. Come for part or all of the evening and if you can not come, pray at home for a deeper respect for all life. In Christ Fr. Scheduled dates: Jan. 26, 2006, March 23, 2007 and May 25, Classes will be held at the Parish Center at 6:30pm. Please call the parish office, when you wish to schedule your class date. You DO NOT have to wait until your baby is born. Parents may take the class during the pregnancy. NATIONAL NIGHT OF PRAYER FOR LIFE will be held on December 8th beginning with Mass at 7pm at St. Patrick Church, followed by prayer, exposition and adoration to the Blessed Sacrament, Rosary, meditation and hymns until 12 midnight. The National Night of Prayer bridges the Feast of the Immaculate Conception with the Feast of St. Juan Diego, to honor Our Blessed Mother and to pray for the sanctity of all human life. CONFESSIONS WILL BE AVAILABLE from 8 to 10pm. Please join us for all or part of the evening. HAVE YOU RECENTLY BECOME ENGAGED? Engaged Couples Introductory Classes for those who are planning to be married in Sacred Heart/St. Patrick Parish, will be held on Jan. 6, Feb. 3, Mar., 10, Apr., 7 and May 5 beginning at 9am at the Parish Center. This is the first step in starting the Marriage Process. The purpose of the class is to explain our marriage requirements, fill out marriage information forms, answer questions, look at dates and liturgical planning. 6 Community Events GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP for anyone experiencing the loss of a significant person through the death of a loved one. The group offers both afternoon and evening sessions. All sessions are held in Anderson Hall at St. Joseph s Hospital in Chippewa. Afternoon sessions meet the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month at 1:30pm. Evening sessions meet the 2nd & 4th Monday each month at 6:30pm. No fees and no preregistration. Advent is a time which invites us into a deepening awareness of God in our lives. Come join us at St. Bede Center in this Advent season to contemplate God With Us. This year s retreat, Dec. 8-9, 2006, will be directed by Sister Joanne Dehmer, SSND from Loyola Spirituality Center in St. Paul, MN. In addition to presentations by the retreat director, the schedule allows reflection time enjoy a 15 minute massage, reading, journaling, prayer, a nap or whatever feeds your soul! Retreat closes with Mass and dinner Saturday evening. Preregister by December 1. Cost is $90 or $65 for commuters, including meals. Cost of massage is separate. Scholarships available. The cookie walk will take place in the Community Center located at 3220 Monroe St., just off Starr Avenue (near the airport). Crafts, raffles and items from Work of Human Hands will also be for sale. Catholic Knights providing matching funds. CHRISTMAS COOKIE WALK on Saturday, Dec. 9 at Our Redeemer from 9am to noon or until cookies are sold out. $4.00 per dozen. International Bakery items: $4.25 per dozen. AD ALTARE DEI PROGRAM for Boy Scouts will be hosted by St. Raymond. Scouts must be registered with the BSA, be active in a troop for 6 months, and have completed the 6th grade, before beginning the program. The purpose of the Ad program is to help Catholic Scouts develop a fully Christian way of life in a faith community.
