Please take five minutes a day and pray for the priests listed each week. As the year of Saint Paul ended our Holy Father, Benedict XVI, declared On the forthcoming Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Friday 19 June 2009 a day traditionally devoted to prayer for the sanctification of the clergy, I have decided to inaugurate a Year for Priests in celebration of the 150 th anniversary of the dies natalis of John Mary Vianney, the patron saint of parish priests worldwide. This Year, meant to deepen the commitment of all priests to interior renewal for the sake of a stronger and more incisive witness to the Gospel in today s world, will conclude on the same Solemnity in ( Letter to Priests for the inauguration of the Year for Priests) Our parish will join the diocese and the whole church in prayer for all priests during this year. We will recite a prayer before all the masses as we did for the year of Saint Paul and we will ask you to pray for the priests of our diocese by name, one each day. Anyone interested in promoting family activities for the upcoming year is welcome to attend. Baptism Classes. Parents who will be having a child baptized are required to attend one of the Baptism classes. Scheduled dates: September 18, 2009 and November 20, Classes will be held at the Parish Center at 6:30pm. Please call the parish office, when you wish to schedule your class date. We recommend that you attend these classes during your pregnancy, before your baby is born. Baptisms are scheduled on the 2nd weekend of the month at Masses or other times by appointment. RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). Sacred Heart / St. Patrick s will begin the RCIA process on September 24 and conclude with the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil on April 3rd. If you or anyone you know is interested in becoming Catholic, or is already baptized Catholic but needs to complete the Sacraments (namely First Eucharist and Confirmation), or if you are preparing to be married in the Church and you desire to become Catholic, or if you have not been baptized, this is the process for you also. Do you have a child between the ages of 7 and 16 who has never been baptized? Or a child between the ages of 7 and 16 who has been baptized but who has not received First Reconciliation or First Communion? This is a program for children 7 or older, whether baptized or un-baptized. Children preparing to receive the Sacraments they missed, or to join the Catholic Church through Baptism, will attend RCIC classes on a regular basis from the beginning of the school year until the Easter Vigil.

The Missionaries of Charity run a children s hospital and orphanage in Port au Prince, Haiti, the poorest country in this hemisphere. The Sacred Heart Haiti Mission Foundation in Rochester is planning on sending a shipping container of needed supplies for the children this Fall. To help fill the container, we will be collecting only the following critically needed supplies until Sept. 13 at both churches: disposable diapers for up to 14 lbs., baby wipes, paper towels and toilet paper. There will be a box in the back of each church building for collection of these. More information? Religious Education & Youth Ministry Michelle Bowe, DRE/Youth Minister THE RELIGIOUS ED SCHOOL YEAR will kick-off on Sept. 2nd with a student/parent orientation beginning at 6:15pm until 7:30pm in St. Patrick s cafeteria. An overview of the program, safe environment training and introduction of this year s catechists will all be part of the evening. Contact Michelle with questions. SUNDAY SCHOOL/NURSERY will begin with an Open House on Sunday, Sept. 13 after the 9am Mass in the Parish Center. See the classrooms, meet the teachers & register your children.
