Parishioners and friends of all ages share patterns, ideas, and faith as we knit and crochet baby blankets, shawls, lap robes, and other comforting items for distribution in our parish and beyond. One special need is for baby blankets that can be used for both boys and girls these blankets are included in a gift bag for parents at each baptism in our church. If you would like to contribute knitted blankets but can t always join us, contact Jan Craugh, And if you would like to learn to knit or crochet, we re always happy to help! CAREGIVERS THIS COULD BE THE MONTH Perhaps you have been caring for a family member, neighbor, or relative informally for such a long time that you don t even think of yourself as a caregiver. But now, the responsibility of making decisions or providing care is getting more difficult or complicated. We can help! Come to our Caregivers Support Group meeting on Monday at 1:30 pm to talk, laugh, ask questions, and get help and advice from others who understand what it s like. SPIRITSWORD On November 19, we continue the series Reasons to Believe, with Dr. Scott Hahn and Mike Aquillina. This presentation, The Kingdom and the Church, discusses and breaks open Matthew s Gospel, also known as the Gospel of the Kingdom. On Wednesday, November 15, at 9:30 am in the Bayley Room, we focus on The Bread of Life in the Gospel of John: the differences between manna from heaven and the Eucharist, what it means to be sealed by the Holy Spirit, and what the writings of St. Justin Martyr say about the necessary requirements to take part in the Eucharist. We ll look at Church teachings about the fruits of Holy Communion, discuss how our work can be redemptive, and consider the significance of the phrase, the work of human hands. Come Sunday, November 19, for a Holy Hour at 3 pm, with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Benediction, and praying of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. There is a special apostolic blessing for praying the chaplet during a Holy Hour. Our devotions take place at three o'clock, the hour of great mercy, recalling the time of Christ s death on the cross. THIS SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 12, AT 4 PM, our music director, Scott Crowne, will be in recital for the Music Gettysburg! concert series at the Lutheran Theological Seminary, Gettysburg. The program features vocal works by the English composer Herbert Howells; Leah Schenck Crowne is a soloist. Admission is free; a free will offering will be taken at intermission. OUR PARISH COMMUNITY IS BLESSED in so many ways.
