As part of an ovrall plan to grow Ottawa mor sustainabl, th Cit ncourags growth within th dsignatd Mixd-Us Cntr that includs Tunn s Pastur and adjacnt aras. This Communit Dsign Plan (CDP) has bn prpard to guid futur chang in th ara surrounding th Tunn s Pastur Transit Station, an ara that taks its nam from th transportation corridor that conncts th four stablishd and volving nighbourhoods. It is intndd to guid not onl privat dvlopmnt but also important public initiativs that will improv th ara and support intnsification. Th ara capturs Tunn s Pastur, th Mchanicsvill nighbourhood and portions of th Hintonburg Champlain Park and Wllington Villag nighbourhoods. Communit Dsign Plans ar intndd to guid chang in aras of Ottawa targtd for growth and improvmnt, including th Cntral Ara, Town Cntrs, Mixd-Us Cntrs, Dvloping Communitis and Mainstrts. Thir purpos is to translat th principls and policis of th Cit s Official Plan to th communit scal. CDPs rcogniz that ach communit is uniqu and has distinct opportunitis and challngs for managing chang. CDPs ar oftn initiatd in rspons to prssurs for chang or growth in an ara and ar intndd to provid th opportunit for arl involvmnt and discussion b all partis about how futur dvlopmnt should occur. In th spirit of collaborativ communit building, th ar prpard through an opn and public procss. CDPs focus on land us and dvlopmnt but also addrss transportation and lmnts of th public ralm, including parks and strtscaps. Whr th CDP conflicts with prviousl communit associations and rsidnts. Spcificall, it should b adoptd guidlins, th guidlins in this documnt shall usd as follows: prvail. A Public Advisor Committ (PAC), comprisd of rprsntativs from ach of th affctd nighbourhoods and th Wllington Wst Businss Improvmnt Association (BIA), was formd to provid a sounding board as dirctions for th CDP mrgd. Public consultation vnts providd an opportunit in ach phas of th projct for rsidnts, businss ownrs, land ownrs PHASE 1 Goals, Objctivs and Potntial and othr stakholdrs to provid input and fdback. Ths includd communit workshops hld Ma 1st and 2nd and Jun 26th and communit mtings hld Octobr 9th and Novmbr 13th. A Tchnical Advisor Committ (TAC) comprisd of staff from various Cit dpartmnts, OC Transpo, th NCC, and Public Works and Govrnmnt Srvics Canada (PWGSC) also providd critical input and fdback at projct milstons.
