6 THE"GARDEN SLAND! " - fltwwttfr,,jfer LAST SUNDAYS S BE T BA The Lhue fans were treated to some of the best ball of the season last Sunday, when a twelve nnng game was played between the Lhue and Homestead teams. A te resulted n the nnth nnng, the score standng S to 8. From here on, t was a battle for blood untl the twelfth nnng;, when the farmers plucked a run, and shut out the home team wth a score ot 9 to 8. The queston of a "passed ball" resulted from a wld throw from second to thrd, the latter mssng and allowng two runs, but when t was explaned by the umpre that hs decson was based upon an agreement of captans of both teams at the begnnng of the game the matter was quckly passed over. The Untes should have won the game hands down but ther lack of nterest n the game was ndcated n ther deserton of the feld to wtness a lttle dsturbance out sde of the grounds. They showed a decded lack of practce and team work also. n Makawel the Koloas got thers too, at the rate of 8 to 6, whch shows, an mprovement n the doughty lttle team. The Maka-wel- s at present look to be easy wnners, beng so far n the lead that t s mprobable any other team ll defeat them. Eleele umped on to the Klaueas and made the Bg Stckers look very much lke second raters. For some reason or other, Klattea of late has not been up to her standard. However, n Sundays game, the score stood 3 to 3 to the nnth nnng, when the Eleele team found every old curve that the redoubtable Wood could nvent, and batted and swatted rght and left, plng up sx runs before the curtan dropped. t was a perfectly fascnatng game, however, and was wtnessed by the usual number o f Klaueas enthusastc fans.
