2 Page 2 From the Pastor Faith occurs as an inner conviction, and it is not based on what we see, feel, or know. Hebrews 1:11 defines faith as the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. God calls us to rely on Him, not on our own senses. Proverbs 3:5 says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. Paul told believers, We walk by faith, not by sight (II Corinthians 5:7). We must ask ourselves, Do I want to please God? We must stop determining the course of our lives by what we see or feel. Faith is believing something is so, when it is not so, in order for it to be so, because God said so. 4 Page 4 Prayer Requests: Denman house in Arkansas to sell Cristal Ferguson - had back surgery yesterday in Dallas Jerry Houston - hospitalized in North Carolina; has received 8 units of blood since Monday; source of internal bleeding is unknown Juanita Richardson - will have procedure at Shannon tomorrow to lessen back pain Mike & Terry Moynihan - Mike having gall bladder surgery today; Terry broke a bone in her left foot and is in a boot Ramona Haynie - spine center yesterday for pain from herniated disc and Abilene tomorrow due to fluid in her cheek and near eye Wilton Wyman - (Curt s brother) diagnosed with leukemia; has been given platelets and blood; Curt & Esther there with him Laura Libby - recovering at home Danny Karen McCleery - recovering at home from pneumonia & will continue to have periodic dialysis Anna Ponder (Peggy Daniel s newborn baby) having to wear braces on both legs to develop hip joints Carol Mock - taken off chemo for awhile; nauseated and in pain Carlos Martinez Sr. - foot needs to heal so surgery won t be needed Carlos Martinez Jr. - will have stress test on his heart July 26 Prayer Requests cont.: Debra Hernandez - (client of Nancy Vincent) battling cystic fibrosis & recently diagnosed with lung cancer Cybil Contreras - Lubbock woman whose husband shot their 2 children and then himself Todd Smith - (Laura Libby s friend) needs surgery to remove a blockage on the gastrointestinal area J.J. 5 Page 5 Our goal is to have a team prayer walk at each school on August 21. We will meet at the church at 6:30pm then go to your assigned school with your team and prayer walk the campus. Once you have finished, return to IBC for discussion and refreshments. If you have any questions please contact JD or We have included a list of schools in your Sunday School attendance box.
