2 Page 2 From the Pastor Isn t it wonderful the solution to our problem of sin doesn t depend on us? The solution to our sin problem is the gift of God by the grace of God. Grace made that gift possible. Paul shows us in Romans 5:20, the abundant supply of God s grace. The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more. - Romans 5:20 The grace of God is an exhaustless theme. Sam Duncannon, a simple man, had a great desire to do something for the Lord. So, he cut out pictures from cards and magazines and pasted on to the pictures appropriate verses and poems, and then gave these as gifts. One day, Sam came across a picture of Niagara Falls, but for a long time could find no poem appropriate for this picture. Then he heard a hymn and knew he had found the poem he needed. The poem went like this: Have you on the Lord believed? Of His grace have you received? What better illustration could there be of the abundant supply of God s grace! It is wonderful to welcome Scott and Cindy Hurt to our church family. They joined our fellowship Sunday Evening. 4 Page 4 Prayer Requests: Sale of the Denman s house in Arkansas Linda Gifford - had MRI yesterday Gary McCray - has high blood pressure; not seeing well in one eye James Baker - recovering at home again after brief hospital stay Diane Tovar (Ray Bertrand s sister) diagnosed with 2 types of cancer plus cat-scratch fever; will see oncologist May 11 Pat Forehand - recovering at home from surgery Monday Carol Mock - chemo has been adjusted to once every 2 weeks; will continue maintenance treatment once a week Sylva Compton (Steve Compton s mother) broke her wrist & neck; airlifted to Lubbock Pam Monday - spent time in ER after MRI Monday due to an unexpected reaction; also can t see Dr. about her herniated disc until July Henry McDow - recovering at home after hospital stay for E-Coli; CDIF and RODA Virus Jean Blair - (neighbor of Mary Bailey) in Division 2 BRC at present after having fallen several times; lives alone Wanda Pratt - will finish the last radiation for breast cancer next Tuesday 6 yr. old Student at Bowie - was having headaches & loss of balance; scan has shown cancerous tumor in brain; will have chemo for 6 months, then radiation for 6 months Magazines, Devotionals and Other Periodicals are available Fresh Each Month Located at the Resource Center in the hall behind the sanctuary.
