2 Page 2 From the Pastor Most people are familiar with the expression, It is better to ask forgiveness than permission. Essentially, we are saying, I ve already decided what I want to do, and I m not really open to finding out why it s not a good idea. When we listen to Scripture, it s easy to rationalize why a particular verse or message does not apply to our personal situations. We are hesitant to be completely ready to obey God in whatever He says. Our world is too ready to admit God cannot relate to our day and age, without thinking He is already in our future. As prevalent as asking forgiveness rather than permission might be, even among Christ followers, nothing could be further from the truth. We cannot possibly imagine all God has in store for us when we trust in Him. Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Our lives must be dependent on God s direction and instructions. We must take Paul s advice in Romans 8:5 and set our minds on the things of the Spirit. Ask God daily, What shall I do, Lord? Then we must listen and be obedient. Permission in the form of a commission is a lot more productive than always seeking forgiveness. Blessed to be your Pastor! Bro.
