Please drop your candy donations into the basket located outside the church office. Trunks Needed We need YOU to come out and provide a Trunk for this event. First Friend of the Week: (Take a moment to send a note/card to our First Friend.) Merril Grove Spring Meade Health Center 4375 S. Cty Rd 25A, Tipp City, Fair Trade Sunday TODAY!!! The table is set up in the Gathering room after the 8:15am service, as well as after the 10:45am services. Time to stock up on fair trade chocolate, coffee and tea. Altar Flowers The altar flowers are presented to the Glory of God by Phyllis & J.R. Primm. Spread the Word! Our Evangelism Committee is busy preparing for our next community event, Trunk or Treat. The main reason we hold these events is to invite the community and extend a hand of friendship to our guests. Studies show the majority of people come
4 to church on the arm of a friend. This is a great time for us to show up and meet the guests who will attend Trunk or Treat. Our goal is for each church attendee to be an evangelist at our events by welcoming our guests with the love of Christ. We have also included a flyer in this bulletin and we encourage you take it with you and find someone this week to invite to Trunk or Treat. Today is World Communion Sunday Around the globe, countless gifted and qualified people face financial obstacles that hinder them from preparing for the vocation God has given them, especially youth and young adults. For ethnic students who will be the first generation in their families to attend college, or for those people of color who haven t historically had access to resources that make higher education possible, the road toward education has often been unwieldy. What would it look like if the church today imitated Jesus affirmation of the full dignity and God-given potential of all women and men especially those who ve historically been assigned to the world s margins? On World Communion Sunday your giving helps to provide scholarships for national and international graduate students whom God has gifted to learn and to serve. Equipping Disciples Like Mary Grace to Serve in Jesus Name As a small child Mary Grace Galapon labored as a housemaid in exchange for food and clothing. Yet, allowed to attend church, she found hope. As a member of the United Methodist Church, your giving on World Communion Sunday has allowed this deaconess, of the Mindanao Phillipines Annual Conference, to pursue an education that is now changing her community as she works to eliminate poverty. Mary Grace s work, and the impact of hundreds more like her, are possible because you give. Children s Choir Children's Choir will start on Wed, Oct 15 immediately following ROCK from 7-7:30 pm in the Sanctuary. We will prepare for our Christmas program entitled "The Christmas Present." Rehearsals will continue into December. We're looking forward to a fun time of music! Miss Susan & Miss Marilee Wednesday Nights Dinner is served from First Place. Dinner menus will be published each week. ROCK 6pm in Room 304 of the main church building. Children s 7pm in the Sanctuary. TFY will meet at 6:30pm in the Youth First Place Greeters Needed Greeters are needed for the traditional worship services in Sept & Oct. Please sign up on the clipboard located in the Gathering room for one or two Sundays.

Church Charge Conference Everyone is welcome and every member has a vote at our Annual Church Charge Conference to be held on Mon, Oct 7pm in the Sanctuary. Church Officers will be elected and pastoral salaries will be set for the year. What is a Church/Charge Conference? The Book of Discipline of The United Methodist Church requires that each local church hold a church or charge conference annually. This annual conference (church or charge) directs the work of the church and gives general oversight to the church council and reviews and evaluates the mission and ministry of the church, in addition to other tasks (as appropriate), such as setting salaries for the appointed or assigned pastors, electing church officers, and recommending candidates for ministry. The difference between a church or charge conference is: 1. The charge conference is the basic governing body of each United Methodist local church and is composed of all members of the church council (or administrative board or leadership team. 2. A church conference invites broader participation of the members of the congregation beyond just the church Council members in that all members of a local United Methodist church are invited to attend and are extended the privilege of vote. All members of the charge or church conference must be members of the local church. Lost n Found Last Chance! Lost n Found items are in the Gathering room today. Please stop by and see if you have left anything. There are jackets, shirts, gloves, eye glasses, jewelry, car keys, travel mugs, chargers, head bands etc. Items not claimed will be given to the UMW Rummage sale. Thanks for your help! Let s Go! Today s Anthem How Beautiful Words & Music:Twila Paris Arr by Craig Courtney How beautiful the hands that served the wine & the bread & the sons of the earth. How beautiful the feet that walked the long dusty roads and the hill to the cross. How beautiful is the body of Christ. How beautiful the heart that bled, that took all my sin and bore it instead. How beautiful the tender eyes that choose to forgive and never despise. How beautiful is the body of Christ. And as He laid down His life, we offer this sacrifice: that we will live just as He died willing to pay the price. How beautiful the radiant Bride who waits for her Groom w/ His light in her eyes. How beautiful when humble hearts give the fruit of pure lives so that others may live. How beautiful is the body of Christ. How beautiful the feet that bring the sound of good news and the love of the King. How beautiful the hands that serve the wine & the bread & the sons of the earth.
