Karen Painter Genesis Troy Center, 512 Crescent Dr., Troy Happy Birthday: Sept 27!!! Did You Know.that the Wise Men/Kings were astronomers? They studied heavenly bodies for their movements and brightness, making elaborate charts of the night sky. They understood that there were differences between the objects they saw in the sky, but telescopes had not been invented yet so they called all heavenly bodies stars. Did you know that The Wise men/kings studied ancient manuscripts and writings for prophecies and messages in the night skies? This is not astrology, which says that the stars control events on earth, but for them it was a challenge to uncover messages from God through the stars. Did you know that our church will be celebrating Epiphany in 2016 with a drama about the Wise Men/Kings entitled It Started with a Star? Attendance Sept 13 Worship: 443 Altar Roses A white rose has been placed on the altar in memory of: Ralph Caylor, who passed away Sept 16. He is a FUMC member and the son of Susan Spitler. Roses are courtesy of Baird Funeral Home. Family members are welcome to take the rose. Speaker Series & Fashion Show: Last Call Last Call to get Speaker Series & Fashion Show tickets.the show is only a few days away. You can still get the free tickets online at or by filling out the registration form and putting it in the offering plate or deliver to the office. It's not too late to donate/sponsor and attend the private reception with Mr. Skinner. You should make your donation by Monday or contact the office to indicate your commitment to donate/sponsor. Altar Flowers The Altar flowers are presented to the Glory of God by Scott & Diane Griffith, in celebration of their 5 th wedding anniversary.

4 Healing Service Pastor Dave will hold a healing service on Sun, Sept 27 at 9:30am in the Sanctuary. Everyone is welcome to attend. Epiphany Fair Mark Your Calendars Epiphany is celebrated as the time when the Wise Men visited the child Jesus to worship Him. The official date is twelve days after Christmas, but in 2016 Troy First will celebrate Epiphany on Jan 13 starting at 6pm with our own Epiphany Fair and the drama, "It Started with a Star." The Fair will feature crafts, food, and traditions from six countries around the world while the play will tell the story of the Wise Men, their wives, and servants and how the journey to follow the star impacted each of them. You will not want to miss this church-wide event! TFY: Troy First Youth TFY meets every Wed night 6:30-8:30pm September 27th: Sr. High Sunday Funday, 1-4:30pm-John Bryan Stained Glass Windows Completion Need: $61,000 SAVE THE DATE! UMW FALL RUMMAGE SALE. The United Methodist Women will be having their annual autumn rummage sale on Fri. Oct 9 th, 9am-4pm, and Sat. Oct. 10 th, 9am-12 noon. Your help is needed to make this another successful one so please start saving your gently used items such as clothing (all sizes of men, women and children), furniture, seasonal décor, books, small appliances, pictures, games and toys, household items (such as dishes, linens, kitchen utensils, sewing and decorative items). Let s clean out those closets, attics and garages! Drop off days will be Oct 6 Oct 8, 9am- 3pm at First Place. A night time drop off will also be available on Thurs, Oct 8, 6-7:30pm at First Place. All proceeds fund the UMW missions. Helpers are always needed so come and join us. She is also a member of the Marching Band and a senior at Troy. Haley Beeler Haley has been selected as a Varsity Football & Basketball Cheerleader at Troy High School. Haley is a sophomore. Trunk or Treat Candy Needed It s time to start collecting candy for our Annual Trunk or Treat event. We need lots of candy to pull off this event and lots of cars/vans. Peg Lefler Dear Friends at F.U.M.C.- Your many cards and prayers, calls and visits, gifts of food, expressions of love and caring are all contributing to my recovering from hip replacement surgery August 24. The Altar Flowers of August 30, provided by John and Chris Terwilliger and delivered by Nancy Johnson, lifted our spirits and beautified our home. Pastor Bob s 7:15am pre-surgery prayer was so appreciated and helpful. I look forward to joining you in worship and again being part of the Chancel Choir. 9 Wednesday night fun returns beginning Oct 14 - Nov 18 from 6-7pm ROCK is for kids age 3 through 5 th grade. Join us for dinner from 5-6pm at First Place, and then take the kids to the 3rd floor of the main church building for an evening of bible story, crafts, games, and fun!
