6 with cancer. The words of Ecclesiastes 3 took on unusual poignancy as the significance of that phone call penetrated my mind and emotions. It is my prayer that this anthem will be a reminder of God s presence and grace in all the times of our lives. CRAIG COURTNEY There is a time, there is a season for every purpose under heaven: a time to be born, a time to die, a time to plant a time to reap, a time to kill, a time to heal, a time to destroy, a time to build. There is a time. A time to weep, a time to laugh, a time to mourn, a time to dance, to scatter stones, to gather stones, a time to embrace, and to refrain, a time to search, a time to lose, a time to hold, a time to release. There is a time. A time for silence, a time to speak, a time to love a time to hate, a time for war, a time for peace. There is a time. 7 The Twelve Seats at the Table Pastor Dave would like us to once again present The Twelve Seats at the Table for Holy Week, Easter will fall on April 1 so our presentation will be on Thursday, March 29 and Friday, March 30. Evening rehearsals will begin on Sunday, March 25. Roles are all monologues and individual rehearsals will be at your convenience earlier in March. Growing a beard is always great advertising, but it is not necessary. For more information check out YouTube for The Twelve Seats at the Table posted by Greg Taylor in Backstage work includes set building on Sunday, March 25 immediately after services, washing costumes before and after the presentations, makeup, setting the table, serving Communion, distributing advertising, and set tear down on Friday night. If you are interested in portraying a disciple or working behind the scenes, please, contact Susan Furlong at sfurlong90@gmail.com or at so we can determine interest and availability. No commitment is necessary at this time. UMW Mission Moment My prayer is that we lift up for support those who suffer with poor housing conditions. May we work for change in the laws and institutions that perpetuate these insufficient and demeaning conditions. Helen McHill, deaconess, director of Allen Project for the Prevention of Homelessness in Asbury Park, NJ Bell Choir Members: Kathie Abke, Rex Abke Myrle Briggs, Mary Davis, Diane Gary, Scott Harshman, Marilee Lake, Nancy Johnson, Rick Matson, Mary Miller, Carol Pinkerton, Dave Pinkerton, Bev Schroedel, Steve Schumann, Pam Sturtz & Tawnie Johnson New Year's Day 5k Registration is now open for the 11th annual World Race for Hope 5k, presented by Free To Run Foundation and Troy FUMC. 8 September 9, 2017 Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep. Psalm 36:6 Africa Pray for the clients in several scheduled court cases in Uganda whose hearings will be affected by a judiciary strike in northern Uganda this week. As they wait for justice and assurance that they can live securely on their land, delays in case hearings at court can be difficult. Pray for swift and peaceful resolution to the strike, and for the widows and orphans whose cases are affected. Latin America Please pray for the spiritual and physical health of our Bolivia team. Pray for strength, wisdom and joy in their everyday tasks. Pray that God will sustain them as they walk alongside our clients in their journeys of restoration. South Asia Please pray for hundreds of survivors preparing to graduate from IJM s aftercare program this month after overcoming the trauma of forced labor slavery. Since their rescue two years ago, these families have been learning how to overcome abuse, find good jobs, manage their money and keep children in school, among other life skills. Now, they are ready to live freely without IJM s help. Pray for our team planning the joyful graduation ceremony, and that it will be honoring and encouraging to these children, women and men as they embrace life in freedom. Southeast Asia Two American men one from California, the other from
9 Virginia were found guilty this week for sexually exploiting young Filipino children. Both men had used the internet to meet facilitators in the Philippines, and had traveled there to abuse girls as young as eight years old in person. Praise God for the two brave survivors who traveled to California to testify in one of the cases. The girls were in the courtroom and heard the judge pronounce the man guilty. Just 24 hours later, a second case involving different children ended with the man in Virginia pleading guilty. Praise God that both cases have ended with justice, and pray that the survivors will move forward in peace and thrive in freedom. IJM HQ & Global Partners IJM has partner offices in Australia, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. Please continue to pray as we recruit friends and supporters to join us at our 2017 Advocacy Summit in Washington, DC. Pray for wisdom and creativity as our team recruits advocates from key congressional districts and begins arranging meetings with elected officials. Ask God to use the October event to move our elected leaders to action against slavery, and to show them that people across the country are coming together to speak on behalf of the oppressed.
