A women s group is beginning and meets on Wednesdays at 5:00 or 5:30pm. We are looking for 2-4 more gals. 4 Altar Roses A white rose has been placed on the altar in memory of: Imogene Seahorn, who passed on Mar 21. She is the mother of Sue Jones. Roses are courtesy of Baird Funeral Home. Family members are welcome to take the rose. 20 th Annual WalkMS On Saturday, April 9, 2016 we will walk to create a world free of Multiple Sclerosis at our 20 th Annual WalkMS: Miami County. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. along with team pictures. Walkers turning in $100 prior to or day of the event will receive a short sleeve t-shirt. Those turning in $200 will receive a long sleeve t-shirt in additional to the already earned short sleeve t-shirt. Opening ceremonies including recognizing our past Walk Ambassadors begin at 9:45 a.m. with the Walk following. The 3-mile walk is followed by light refreshments and a raffle drawing for many special prizes. Raffle tickets are available from committee members and at the stadium prior to the start of Walk. Tickets sell for $1 each or 6 for $5.00. Walk brochures are available with registration information at area businesses throughout the county or by calling FIGHTMS. 5 Higher Education Assistance Grant Applications Deadline: April 1 Applications for higher education assistance grants from Troy First United Methodist Church for the academic years are currently available in the church office, or online via the church website. Deadline for Completed Applications is April 1, Completed Applications must be submitted to the church office. One of our youth shared an idea that she learned about while attending the university in the capital. It was "Twin Night," where everyone was encouraged to bring a friend and look as much like a twin as possible. We had no idea how this idea would go over and were pleasantly surprised to see how many really took this challenge seriously! We had a full house and celebrated a night of double blessings! We are looking for sponsors to defray this cost. If you are a business owner and would like to promote your business, a short message can be recorded and played at the beginning of the message. 7 UMW SPRING RUMMAGE SALE The United Methodist Women will be holding their annual spring rummage sale on Fri. April 15 th, 9am-4pm, and Sat. April 16 th, 9am 12 noon. Your help is needed to make this another successful one with all proceeds funding the UMW missions. Please start saving your gently used items such as clothing (all sizes of men, women and children), furniture, décor, books, pictures, games, toys, and household items ( dishes, linens, kitchen utensils etc.) Let s clean out those closets, attics and garages. What a great way to jump start your spring cleaning! Drops off days will be April 12 th 14 th, 9am 4 pm at First Place. A night time drop off will also be available on Thurs. You need only to submit one application per year where it will be screened for all possible eligible programs. 10 Free Tax Preparation Ohio Benefit Bank Tax Counselors The Lincoln Community Center, 110 Ash St. is hosting the Ohio Benefit Bank. Until April 16, Volunteers from the Ohio Benefit Bank will help prepare taxes for individuals and households free of charge. Dates are Wednesdays 6pm to 9pm and Saturdays 9:00 am to noon. To sign up for this free service call the LCC at to schedule an appointment. Available for joint filers earning less than $95,000 and individual filers making less than $65,000. Must bring SS# and date of birth for all household members, photo ID, and all tax documents and reporting forms. Which of these students would fit into your family? ICES is seeking host families for students arriving in August Phucit is a 15 year old boy from Thailand. He is Buddhist and plays sousaphone in his school s marching band. Eva is a 17 year old girl from Germany. She is Christian and likes ballet, Latin American dance and meeting friends. More students available! About Hosting - Exchange students live as a member of the family and are expected to abide by host family rules, including chores, curfew, etc. - Host families provide room & board and loving parental guidance. - Students come with medical insurance and spending money to cover all personal expenses - The local coordinator provides strong support every step of the way, including planning trips and activities for the exchange students throughout the year.
