2 It seems that winter is not done with us yet! Daylight Savings Time begins next Sunday and Spring begins on March 20 (according to the calendar). Our farmers are eager to be able to work in the fields and begin the planting. All the signs point to the fact that Spring will be here soon if we can just hang on. How many times in our lives do we find ourselves in a cold snap, maybe even an unexpected one? All the signs tell us that a spring of new growth and new life is just ahead if we can just hang on until then! May God give us strength to be faithful and faith to be strong! The March edition of our King's Copy Scripture writing program is available. We're focusing on grace and forgiveness this month. I'm thankful for each of you who has continued to write these verses down daily. I've also heard from many who have fallen off track but gotten back into the habit. Don't give up! This month our verses are all about second chances, so if you haven't been writing with us, jump and start here! It's amazing what will happen when you "do the write thing" and spend time in God's Word every day. To Him be the glory! -David Salisbury Devotion Then Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth and spread it for herself on the rock, from the beginning of harvest until rain fell upon them from the heavens. And she did not allow the birds of the air to come upon them by day, or the beasts of the field by night. 2 Samuel 21:10 In the passage above, Rizpah is mourning the death of her two sons, who were executed and their bodies were exposed to the elements. She guards the bodies from the birds and the beasts day and night. Her love for her sons motivated her to do this. If she could maintain her vigil in such a devoted way, what excuse could we offer for not being able to focus on the suffering and death of our Lord for a few moments each Sunday during the Lord's Supper? Just as she chased away the birds and animals, should we chase away every thought that threatens to intrude upon our meditation time? While it is so easy to think about other things during that time, it is a sign of our devotion when we exercise self control and center our thoughts on the reason for our worship. She stayed awake night and day out of love for her sons, yet we struggle to stay awake for a Bible Your place for weekly news and updates! reading or sermon. She was there night and day to meet every challenge, yet we find feeble excuses to miss Bible class or even worship. Her sons were executed as criminals yet she refused to be ashamed of them. What about our attitude toward the one who was executed as a criminal on our behalf? Rizpah stood alone to care for her sons. Are we willing to be the only one who stands up for our Lord or do we let the voices of the crowd make us shrink back? Rizpah's motivation was pure and understandable. A mother's love is a powerful force. She did an amazing thing which was eventually noticed by the King and rewarded. And yet our motivation is even more powerful. Christ died in our place and took our punishment. When the King of Kings takes notice of our devotion, will He reward us? -David 2 Corinthians 5:9 So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him.

To encourage our kids means to give them (All parents/guardians and youth may attend these events.) HYG Family Devotional This event will now be March 9th starting at 6:00pm at the Woolard's. All who are in the HYG (6-12) and their families are invited to attend! Be sure to sign up for the remind groups below that apply to your family and text your name to (919) courage. Every day our children need courage to stand up for what is right and make good choices at home, at school and with their friends. Encouragement shouldn t be confused with discipline. Parents are called to discipline their children (Proverbs 19:18), but discipline is not the same as encouragement. Disciplining is something we do; encouraging is something we are. I like to think of encouragement as being in the air we breathe. It s the atmosphere of our home. It s in the sparkle in our eyes and the lilt of our voices. When utilized properly, encouragement invites excellence and obedience. It opens doors for optimism and a positive approach to even challenging tasks and assignments. Encouragement allows for risk, a necessary quality for growth and obedience. Kathy Koch, Encourage Your Kids to Get Better Behavior From Them

Becoming a Christian is just the first step in a life long journey of discipleship. Paul says that living the Christian life is like running a race and the end of our life is the finish line of the race. In Revelation 2:10, Jesus promises a crown of life to His followers who are faithful throughout their life. It doesn t mean we re perfect, but it does require us to be faithful. Don t quit on the Lord! He has promised to be faithful and asks us to do the same.
