The lesson will be on the disciple Matthew from Matthew 9:9-13. Pastor Appreciation Day will be October 14th. There will be a love offering for Rev. Myers and lunch at Frisch's. First District Council will meet Saturday, October 20th at Cornerstone Church. Rallying Around the Residents will be Sunday, October 21st at Kenton Point. There will be treats for the residents. Trunk or Treat will be on Wednesday evening, October 31st between 6pm - 8pm on 7th St. in Manchester. During the month of October we will be collecting rice to give to the Manchester Care Center. Please remember all who need our prayers because of health issues. Pray for Martha Bennett; Rex Dryden; Ron and Linda Palmer; Darrell McDaniel; Jr. and Betty Morrison; Mary Mason and Pat McFarland. Our prayers are with the many who have lost everything due to all the flooding and weather related issues. Thank God we live in the area we do. The first Adams County Youth Rally quiz of the season will be held on Sunday afternoon, October 14th at 2:00 pm at the Adams County Christian School. Beth Dettwiller will be the leader again this year. Members of the quiz teams this year are Brady Dettwiller on the Junior Team and Bella Dettwiller and Ryan Mack on the Senior Team. Keep them in your prayers and come out and support them if you can. The First District Council will be held on Saturday, October 20th at the Cornerstone Christian Union Church. Please try to attend. October is Pastor Appreciation month. Let your pastor know that you appreciate him and pray for him. National collection week for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes is November Start filling those boxes and have them ready. 3 This month, I was spending the day with a couple of friends who are a few decades older than me. Our conversation was centered on how fast time flies. During the conversation, one advised me to make the best of the time I have now while I am young, because time will go by faster the older I get. As they continued, my mind began to process this statement I have heard countless times. As I reflected over the last 20 years of my life, I could definitely relate to the concept. However, I deal with calculations involving time for the last 20 years and I know it hasn t actually gotten any faster. There are still 1440 minutes in each day and 60 seconds in each of those minutes. So why do we believe time goes faster? I suddenly made a comment to my friends. Maybe time isn t going by faster, maybe we are just getting slower. We all laughed at first, and then the realization H i l l s C h a p e l R E D E E M T H E T I M E of the truth of that statement began to sink in. My mind went to James 4 where MARK YOUR CALENDARS Men s Harvest Dinner Oct. 20th Mt. Hope Bible Camp Speaker: Mickey Bane Director of Domestic Missions with SCORE International he compares our life to the morning fog which is here a little while and is gone. Immediately, I began to consider what I was doing that very minute. I thought about the things I had done and the things that I currently had on my calendar that must get done. I began to consider the importance of each of those items. Ephesians 5 tells us to make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. I drove in silence listening to them talk, while allowing this passage to sink in with my newfound thought process. If we are not careful, we will allow the cares of life to clutter our lives and steal our time. Today, I challenge each of you to take a minute and consider your life and how you are spending your time. Consider the things you deem important right now and ask yourself why they are important? and who are they important to? It is both my hope and prayer the answers will help you recognize clutter and allow you to better REDEEM YOUR TIME. -Jonathan King

4 B e a s l e y F o r k C h r i s t i a n U n i o n We are thanking God for sunnier days and summer-like temperature that are taking us into October! On the afternoon of September 23rd, several of us got to spend some time with Mary Lou Grooms in her home. We had a service that was reminiscent of an old-time cottage prayer meeting. We were all happy to see her and spend the time together. We are all sending up many continued prayers for Mary Lou and numerous others on our prayer list. A few were able to attend Quinn Chapel on the afternoon of the 30th for the Monroe Township Sunday School Convention. We are heading right into our Annual Fall Fun Day on October 6th. We have a lot of fun things planned for the kids (little and big)! We are praying for good weather. And, most importantly, our plea is that through the events, lessons and fun we have planned, that we may touch even one life. The first Adams Co. Youth Rally will be 10/14/2018. Blessings to all the young participants this year. We are so thankful for our Pastor Tommy Brown and his wife, Jackie. We value their many years of service in ministry, their dedication to our church family and every prayer they send up for each of us. We love you, Tommy & Jackie! We are studying in the book of Psalms The Adams County for Christian Values Meeting will be held at the Adams County Christian School on Tuesday night, October 2 nd at 7:00 P.M. Our Monthly Missionary Offering will be collected on Sunday morning October 7 th. The Meeting of the West Union Helping Hands will be held on Thursday morning, October 11 th in the Fellowship Hall at 10:00. The Bible Lesson will be by Thelma Knechtly. After our meeting, we will be having sandwiches and desserts for our noon meal. Cornerstone is scheduled to host the First District Council on October 20 th. A Gideon Representative will be speaking for us during the Sunday Morning Worship Service, October 21 st.
