2 Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. Psalm 90:1-2 Look up the word nudiustertian (go ahead and do it if you like!) and you'll find that it means "relating to the day before yesterday." It's a funny word and may have only appeared in print one time when it was used by the guy who made it up! Nathaniel Ward wrote pamphlets in colonial America and was fond of making up words. In a book he wrote in 1647, he used the word to describe clothes that had just recently come into fashion - as in the day before yesterday. While the word may be labeled "obsolete" in the dictionary, we are still prone to follow nudiustertian trends today. When a new iphone comes out, every Apple fan out there wants to have the latest version. When it comes to fashion, many folks crave the latest styles. We want to run with the leaders and have the latest and newest and greatest. This can happen in church, too. Certainly, the church should change with the times and a church that refuses to adapt to the changes in society and culture will find itself unable to reach the people around it. It is vitally important that church be "in the know" about what's Your place for weekly news and updates! I hope you enjoyed a wonderful holiday week! Our Tuesday morning class kicked off this week and we also got pictures taken for our new photo directory coming out soon. This week for me has been filled with lots of discussions about plans for 2019 and beyond. I'm excited to see what God can do among us and through us in our community as we work to make disciples for the kingdom. There are lots of great things coming up! Speaking of making disciples, Jerry Edwards will be with us tonight to talk about the growth of the gospel in India. Jerry always has some amazing stories to tell about our brothers and sisters in India and you'll be blessed to be here tonight and hear from him. I'll miss being with you this Wednesday night. I am scheduled to speak in Franklin, KY as part of their Fall series. I'm grateful for the invitation and grateful to the elders for letting me go. Thanks to Juan Nunez for teaching the auditorium class for me Wednesday night. Make it a great week for the Lord as you let your light shine before others every day! -David Salisbury The Day Before Yesterday going on in the world around us. But as we learn and study our culture, we also bring a timeless truth to bear on a society obsessed with nudiustertian trends. An everlasting God has given us His eternal Word that speaks truth to us that lasts for generations. It is that mixture of timely and timeless that makes the gospel unique and gives the church a stamp of divine wisdom. The word Nathaniel Ward created comes from Latin and is literally translated "this is the third day." For Christians, we look back to a specific three day period after Christ died and remember that the third day changed everything for all of time! While times change and trends may be the latest, the greatest news of all time happened that Sunday morning when Jesus rose from the dead. The empty tomb brings a message of hope and peace that is always relevant and needed. The gospel will always be current as long as people are in need of a Savior. -David 2 Corinthians 5:9 So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him.

(2+2=4 for everyone, everywhere, at every time.) 3. Truth is unchanging even though our beliefs about truth change. (When we began to believe that the earth was round instead of flat, the truth about the earth didn t change, only our belief about the earth.) 4. Beliefs cannot change a fact no matter how sincerely they are held. (Someone can sincerely believe that the earth is flat; that only makes them sincerely wrong.) 5. Truth is not affected by the attitude of the one professing it. (An arrogant person does not make the truth he professes false. A humble person does not make the error he professes true.) 6. All truths are absolute truths, even truths that appear to be relative are absolute. (I, Chuck Norris, am cold on January 13, 2018 may seem relative, but the fact that Chuck Norris felt the sensation of being cold on that day is absolutely true for everyone everywhere.)* *I understand that Chuck Norris does not get cold. Before a person can put their faith in Christ, they must believe in Him. Before they can believe in Christ, they must know about Him. That s why Paul says faith comes by hearing. The first step in coming to salvation is to hear the Gospel. Our source for the Gospel is the Word of God. The Scriptures teach us about Christ and tell us exactly how God loved the world so much that He sent Jesus to die for our sins. 6 September 9 - Mission Report - Jerry Edwards will be speaking during the evening service about his mission work in India. September Teen Week Retreat - at WKYC. See Nathan for more information. September 16 - Leadership Meeting - The Elders will meet at 4:00 and the Deacons will join them at 5:00. September 19 - Wednesday Night Meal - This is a catered meal. The cost is $3.00 per plate. You must signup in the lobby or call the church office before 1:00 p.m. on the MONDAY before the meal so that we may give an accurate count to the caterer. September 22 - Church Picnic - Our annual picnic will be at Audubon Park Lakeside Shelter. Meal will be at noon. September FHU - If you are in the youth group be sure to sign up today!
