Served with a salad and dressing, country style green beans, rolls with butter, and assorted desserts. Charlie Lanter, Director of the LFUCG Office of Homelessness Prevention and Intervention, will be the speaker. Price is $10 per person. Call by the end of the day each MONDAY to sign up. Who We Are Liberty Road Faith Fellowship is a Multi-denominational gathering of Christians who enjoy traditional worship services. by Dr. Bill Turner, Senior Pastor We've had several special recognitions in our church family lately - all much deserved and all to be celebrated. We're thankful for the contributions made to our ministry by special gifts and special folks. However, it occurred to me - after our annual congregational meeting last Sunday - that a large number of people help to "run our church." As the printed year-end reports indicated, many folks move in and out of leadership and service every single year - board members, committee members, teachers, ushers, sound technicians, food servers, coffee makers, landscapers, set-up helpers, greeters, and those who serve on special task force groups - ALL make it possible for us to do all that we do in ministry to our membership - and to our new community. We have a really good church staff, and I try to help us mark their anniversaries and their splendid leadership from time to time, but I want you to know that the many volunteers who keep things humming at LRFF are not to be taken for granted - or forgotten. WE ARE MIGHTY GRATEFUL TO YOU... WE DELIGHT IN WORKING ALONGSIDE YOU... WE THANK GOD FOR YOU!

Mission Moment by Ms. Susan Booker, Missions Member Liberty Road Faith Fellowship seeks to become the hands and feet of Christ in the world through engagement in missions. Members of Liberty Road Community Church have sent shoeboxes to Operation Christmas Child for many years. This year, Liberty Road Faith Fellowship s congregation is invited to join in giving hope, love and the message of Christ to needy and forgotten children around the world. We will collect filled shoeboxes at church until Sunday, November 13, to be sent to Operation Christmas Child in time for Christmas season giving. Boxes will be taken to a designated site for shipping on November 14. Instructions about how to participate and what to include in a shoebox will be available in the church lobby and in "The Current" shortly for more information see For those of you who do not have internet here are some guidelines. You need to have an average size cardboard or plastic box (or boxes). Then you will decide whether you will provide items for a girl or a boy, ages 2-4, 5-9, Then you fill the boxes with gifts. Here are some suggestions: T-shirts, socks, hats, gloves, sunglasses, hair clips, flashlight (with extra batteries), finger puppets, bracelets, toy doll, soccer ball (with pump),

3 October 2 (Sunday) - Shakertown Dixie Belle Riverboat Ride; 4:00 p.m.; Cost = $10; Call Sarah Reeves at October 5 - Wednesday evening meal provided by Seasons Catering. Cost is $10 per person. Sign up by Monday, October 3. Menu: Fried fillet of fish (catfish), topped with your choice of sauce. Served with salad and dressing, green beans, and corn, freshly baked rolls (and sweet butter). John May will speak on the history and legacy of Liberty Road Community Church. October 11 Action Committee will meet from 6-7 p.m. in the Library. October 12 - Wednesday evening meal - Cost is $10 per person. Sign up by Monday, October 10. Menu: Honey glazed chicken, glazed over in a sweet local honey. Served with a mixed green salad and dressing, fresh fruit, seasonal vegetables, fresh baked rolls, sweet butter. Lester Diaz, newly appointed principal of the new high school on Winchester Road, will speak at 6:15 p.m. He ll relate to us news of the school and perhaps how we can serve. stuffed animals, small toy trucks, musical instrument, jump ropes, and puzzles. Also, it is good to have hygiene items and school supplies in each box. Hygiene items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, washcloths, and combs. Be sure to read more information about the hygiene items, especially the toothpaste because they will stop allowing us to send toothpaste in 2017, so it has to have an expiration date of at least 6 months out if we donate the toothpaste now. School supplies can be crayons (Crayola are the best!), colored pencils and sharpeners, paper, calculators, index cards, pencils, ink pens, etc. You CAN include gummy bears, caramels, taffy and gum. DO NOT INCLUDE: used or damaged items, war related toys, knives, military figures, chocolate or food, drink mixes, liquids or lotions, vitamins or medications, breakable items or aerosol cans. Brochures are available in the foyer at church from Samaritan s Purse. They explain how you can pack your shoebox gift with step by step instructions. Consider giving a shoebox in honor of your children and grandchildren. Please enclose $7.00 for each shoebox given for shipping. Envelopes and labels that you will need are attached to the Samaritan s Purse brochures. Please join us in bringing needy children the message of Christ and the joy of Christmas, and share in that joy through being the Hands of Christ in the World. NOTE FROM THE EDITOR: Please be sure to pick up a copy of a very sweet story about Operation Christmas Child written by Susan Booker. This is based on a true story and you will enjoy reading what Susan has to say about a very special little girl. Copies are on the table outside the church office.

Dana Einsley, director of the new Y in Hamburg, will be our guest speaker. October 22 Men of Faith Breakfast at 9:00 a.m. in Kearns Hall. Mr. Doug Flynn, former Reds Second Baseman will be our speaker. Be sure to sign up. This will be the last MOF breakfast until January due to the upcoming holidays. Come join us! October 26 Wednesday evening meal. Cost is $10 per person. Menu TBA. Dr. Graham Roweles, gereontologist at the University of Kentucky, will speak on the Silver Tsunami occurring in the Commonwealth. This is directly related to our quest for new members from the older adult market. October 27 Missions Committee meets at 7 p.m. in room #3. 6 December 24 Annual Christmas Eve Service at 5:30 p.m. Prayer Requests To add a prayer request, please fill out a Prayer Request card that can be obtained at the Welcome Center, call the church office at , or submit a prayer request or update online by going to Libertyroadfaithfellowship.org. Pray for Art Anderson who will have a five hour heart surgery on 9/28. (Booker) Pray for Pat Bain as she continues therapy at North Point. Praise to God from Roger Blair for the good report from the doctor. The brain scan was clear. The lung cancer had dramatically reduced in size and there is no further spreading of the cancer. Roger said to be sure and thank everyone for their prayers because he felt the power of your prayers. Please pray for Kathy, as she has been diagnosed with Stage 3 lung cancer. It is close to her heart so she cannot have surgery. She will undergo chemo and radiation treatments at Duke's Cancer Coping With Divorce Seminar If you are facing a divorce or issues from a past broken relationship, know you are not alone. Liberty Road Faith Fellowship is offering a 6 week seminar led by Barbara Hull to help you through these difficult times. Call the church office at (859) for information and registration. All sessions are provided free of charge. Topics covered will be: -The Grief Process -Dealing with the Emotions -Divorce Theology, Sexuality -Self Esteem Rebuilding -Single Parenting (Toddlers, Teens, and Adult Children) -Beginning Again, Establishing a New Family Unit When we have a group of folks that are interested we will begin the seminar and the dates will be listed at that time. If you know of someone going through a divorce please feel free to pass this information along to them. We all know that divorce can be ugly. But we don t always know who may be struggling with emotions as a result of divorce. Help us to help others by getting the word out. 7 Center. (Susan Booker) Pray for Sherry Brodock who is living with the uncertainty about the length of her life and also for her husband, Earl Gaddis. (Booker) Pray for Janet Buckner, Jim Boswell s cousin, who has been diagnosed with colon cancer. Pray for Vicki Clark who will take more Chemo treatments before having surgery about mid- October. She very much appreciates your prayers! Pray for Eddie Horn, Jim Boswell s nephew who has been diagnosed with bladder cancer. Pray for Kenny Hurst, Jim Boswell s cousin, who has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. Pray for Jim Hyde who is dealing with painful sciatica and also severe diabetes. Pray for healing and strength. He has been in and out of the hospital recently. Pray for Paul Johnston, age 84 who lives in Ft. Worth, Texas. He is Judy Brand s brother. He is in a rehab facility trying to get stronger. He is better but still needs prayer. Faith from the Front Porch by Jackie Bondurant We are here for only a moment, visitors and strangers in the land as our ancestors were before us. Our days on earth are like a passing shadow, gone so soon without a trace. 1 Chronicles 29:15 This summer memories on the front porch include two very special moments, both beginning with a phone call: We want to come see you. Friends from New Mexico and North Carolina who once were taken for granted that they would always be a part of our lives, who worked and worshiped and walked with us daily, were called to live in another part of the country. Now they are among us once more if only for a brief moment. These visits are even more cherished because we can refresh our friendship and add glad times to our long list of memories. Why are we always surprised that our conversations and our mannerisms are the same as they were years ago? Why do we wonder how we can just pick up where we left off? The answer lies in the sincere development of relationships. These friends are to be treasured and nurtured. They are not yet among those who suddenly without warning disappeared from our lives, never to call again and say, We want to come see you. Thank you from the guys! Thank you for the unexpected words of appreciation and the gifts that were presented to us this past Sunday. We are blessed to serve the Lord in this way and we re very grateful for your kind gifts. 8 Pray for Shannon Mirzaian, age 47, daughter of Buddy and Linda Hogan who is fighting an aggressive form of cancer. Pray for Joyce Reaguer who is now home. Pray also for her husband, Ron, who lovingly supports and cares for her. Pray for Rebecca who is dealing with breast cancer and limited options for treatment. Susan B. requests prayers on her behalf. Pray for Bonnie Richardson, sister-in-law to Charlotte Krasinski. Bonnie was in a serious car accident in Louisville recently. She has multiple serious injuries as a result. Pray for Gene Strassner who was hospitalized recently while having spells of pain in his chest and trouble swallowing. He has atrial fibrillation, but he and Nancy are thankful that he did NOT have a stroke. Eating is currently a struggle and his food has to be pureed. He is currently home and resting, but please be in prayer for Gene and Nancy. Pray for the family of Tommy Yates, 82-year-old uncle of Jim Boswell who died recently.
