1 Volume 7, Issue 32 August 12, 2015 The Pastor s Pen Who We Are Faith Fellowship of Lexington is a Non-denominational gathering of Christians who enjoy traditional worship services. Where to Find Us Faith Fellowship of Lexington worships in the Seventh-day Adventist Church facilities at 968 Lane Allen Road in Lexington, Kentucky. Our offices are located at 365 Waller Avenue, Suite 120, in Lexington. We're at on the web. Click on Watch Our Services Online Now at the bottom of our Website Homepage to watch live or archived services. We Gather for Fellowship Coffee/Donut Fellowship Time: 9:15-9:30 a.m. We Gather for Bible Study Adult I Sunday school meets at 9:30 a.m. in room 8 (Library). by Dr. Bill Turner, Senior Pastor The Apostles was a book gift from some Texas friends. It's a series of descriptions and portraits by an artist in Tulia, Texas. The most interesting part of the book is that beside every picture of an apostle, the painter reveals who his actual-life models are. The man who posed for John is a sheet-metal worker from El Paso. James' model is a construction foreman from Ohio. An ex-motorcycle racer sat for the portrait of Simon Peter, and a truck driver posed as Thomas. Among the remainder of The Twelve are a mechanic, a carpenter, a teacher, a bee-keeper, and a printer. Denominational diversity among the models is also strong: Methodists, Roman Catholics, Baptists, Disciples of Christ, and those who are non-aligned. When you read the New Testament, that sort of diversity is true to form - all sorts of people were drawn to follow Jesus and, of course, they still are. Here at Faith Fellowship, we've had interesting diversity for a long time. A lot of different backgrounds and paths have led us to this faith-community. We can celebrate that, for sure, but let's don't keep it to ourselves! All kinds of folks need Jesus... and a community of His people... could you bring them to worship with you/us this weekend?

Pollock (606) maryann.pollock@twc.com Dr. Bill Turner (859) bturner@lextheo.edu Women of Faith Meeting this Coming Thursday by Sue Thompson Our next Women of Faith meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 13 at the home of Annetta Barlow, 3418 Brookhaven Drive. We will welcome Patricia Foley, VP of the Community Relations Board at the Federal Medical Center. Last year the women inmates made 10,000 handcrafted gifts. Some who receive the fruits of their labors are: The Salvation Army, U.K. Neonatal Unit, Arbor Youth Services (an organization that assists children who suddenly are thrust into a crisis situation), various nursing homes and several others for a total of 26 agencies. The goal for this year is 25,000 items and by the end of June they had completed 18,000 plus. This program is totally dependent on donations. So, it is time to empty that closet of long forgotten, well intended craft projects. They need any crafting supplies: yarn, thread, fabric, batting, knitting or crochet needles, buttons, zippers, or anything else. Please bring the items to the meeting Thursday night.

September 10 Women of Faith meeting at 7:00 p.m. Location To All Members and Regular Attendees by Liz Berryman We need your photos for the Directory. There was a time when we knew every attendee, but our membership now includes people from many areas. We need to know who you are. If you already have a photo in the directory, you do not need to change it unless you want a better one because you want a photo with a different tie or different hair style, or if you ve found the fountain of youth! For those of you who do not have a directory photo, please consider having one as a historical piece of information. You do not need to list an address, but we do appreciate a phone number. We have a photographer who will do her best to take a really good picture and will be taking photos on August 9, 23, and 30. August 30 is Fifth Sunday at a new location, but we will announce where photos will be taken that day. Lowell s committee has worked long hours trying to update the website and the directory is one of the last sections to complete. It does make our jobs easier to be able to put faces with names. Thanks in advance. To All Committees from the Nominations Committee by Liz Berryman The Nominations Committee s primary purpose as an ad hoc committee is to fill the positions of those 2015 members who will be rotating off the Board in September. Also, we present the new committee members and chairs at the church-wide meeting in September. This committee is not responsible for replacing the committee members and chairs, only responsible for submitting them to the Board for approval. It is the time for each committee to firm up committee membership and chair positions. Our committee needs this information by September 1. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Mission Moment by Dr. Ann Crowe, Missions Committee Treasurer Faith Fellowship of Lexington seeks to become the hands and feet of Christ in the world through engagement in missions. If you haven t re-enrolled, please do it soon. Enroll or Re-enroll for the Kroger Community Rewards Program Last year, 47 Faith Fellowship households registered Kroger cards in the Community Rewards Program. So far in 2015, that has resulted in $ coming back to Faith Fellowship for Missions. Can we increase the number of household involved in the program during the coming year? Between August 1 and August 31, participants in the Kroger Community Rewards program must re-enroll in the program so that Faith Fellowship will continue to receive these funds. New participants also may enroll. If you are presently a participant or would like to become one, we encourage you to take just a few minutes to complete the process. There are two ways to enroll or re-enroll (Be sure to have the number of your Kroger Plus card available): Call KROGERS ( ) and select option 3. Just tell the customer service representative that you wish to enroll or re-enroll in the Kroger Community Rewards program. Go online to Kroger.com. Sign in with your address and password. Select Community and Community Rewards. Enter Faith Fellowship (or #12007) as the charitable organization you wish to support. Then click to reapply. If you are applying for the first time, you will need to provide some additional information. Thank you for supporting missions in this way!

Now, that video has been posted on Bible Orphan Ministry's Facebook account, which is open to all viewers (you don't need a Facebook page to see it - just search for "Bible Orphan Ministry - Facebook"). The video was posted on August 5, and includes the small orphaned children whose new winter shoes were provided through Faith Fellowship's gift to Bible Orphan Ministry. So if you missed Alla's visit last spring, or would like to see this wonderful video again, just take a look.
