2 We have received thank-you notes from Courtney Aldrich, Project Transformation executive director and Catie Adams and Ben Jackle, our PT interns. Ben says, "this program has changed my life," and Catie says "your help has been instrumental to the growth of this wonderful ministry." If you are a college student interested in becoming a PT summer intern the application priority deadline is January 15, Call PT at for more information. We also thank Colleen Lowe for organizing and delivering the meal for the Project Transformation Family Fun Night at Antioch UMC on October 20. This ministry has expanded to serve children after school in a year-round program. Would you like to take a family trip that makes a difference to others? We are investigating the possibility of an Epworth family mission trip to Sager Brown UMCOR Depot in Baldwin, Louisiana, sometime in July, If you are interested, see Pastor Donna Parramore or Kathy Heard. Plans are underway for our Mission Impact Celebration to be March 1-April 2, 2017! We already have commitments from some of our guest missionaries. If you would like to help with the planning and preparations, contact Kathy Heard at kch87@aol.com Thanksgiving Feast The Congregational Care Committee is hosting a luncheon for the entire congregation on November 1 following the 10:0 a.m. worship service. We will count our blessings and honor our new members who have joined the church the latter part of last year and this year. In addition we will be welcoming those who have been visiting our church. This is a great opportunity to be together as a church family and get to know our new members and visitors. All of the food is provided, so plan to come and have a delicious Sunday dinner with your church family. We will celebrate Veteran s day at Epworth on November 1th and we re doing something special this year. If you were a veteran, would you please send us a picture of yourself in active duty clothing that we may show on a special PowerPoint presentation? Please write your name on the back of the picture and we will have the pictures in the office for you to pick up after Veteran s Day. Thanks! Room in the Inn begins this month as we host 12 men for dinner, breakfast, a sack lunch to take with them and a place to sleep every other Thursday night. Located on the grounds of Heritage Elementary School in Thompsons Station on Columbia Pike. Our lot will be open Saturday, November 21 at 8:00 a.m. Regular lot hours will be: Wednesday Friday 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Saturday 8:00 am to 8:00 pm and Sunday 9:00 am to 8:00 pm. With the generosity of the local community donating new, unwrapped items ($0 or less for infants to seniors), and with the help from teams of volunteers, a storelike environment is created just for these families to choose their own gifts. The Manger Program is December 8th 16th (with the exception of Sunday the 11th) at Church of the City, 828 Murfreesboro Road in Franklin. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and on Saturday, December 10, hours are 1:00-5:00 p.m. To volunteer for The Manger, go to their website: graceworksministries.net and click on how to volunteer. Volunteers are asked to be present each evening from 5:00-9:00 p.m. 6 Dear Epworth Friends There will never be enough words to express how much I appreciate each & every one of you! You ve been so wonderful to me through all these surgeries. Your prayers brought me comfort, your calls, cards, food and help meant so much! Blessings, Pete and Betty Mosley The Children's Council is sponsoring Samaritan's Purse's Operation Christmas Child Shoebox gifts again this year. We are accepting donations through Nov. 1 and they may be placed in the collection box in the narthex. The children will pack the shoeboxes on Nov. 1 during Sunday School and they will also enjoy breakfast. The congregation may bring items for the children to pack or pack a complete shoebox. Some suggested items are: Toys: small dolls, toy cars, small stuffed animals, yo-yos, jump ropes, balls School Supplies: pens, pencils and sharpeners, crayons, markers, notebooks, paper, solar calculators, coloring books, picture books Non-Liquid Hygiene Items: toothbrushes, bar soap, combs, washcloths, etc Accessories: t-shirts, underwear, socks, hats, hairclips, jewelry, watches The age categories are: 2-4, 5-9, or Please share and help teach God's love by helping a child. 4 Please join us for worship on Sundays at 8 am and 10:0 am Sunday School at 9:15 am I Shall Not Need Despite the traditional wording ( The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want ) Psalm 2 declares that God provides everything we need not everything we desire. He makes me lie down Sometimes our busyness is useful; other times it s how we feel in control or superior to others. God knows we need to rest and sometimes must make us do so! He leads me side still waters Although we often prefer noisy distractions, God knows we need quiet to hear him and have our souls restored. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. Rather than a boast ( Ha! See how God spreads a banquet in my honor while others look on! ), this is a reminder that God wants us to dine with our enemies. We might not be able to stand those people, but God pursues reconciliation. In the process, goodness and mercy follow me all..my life. That s what we need the most! -the Newsletter Newsletter

5 Fall Fest was a success for everyone.! The children enjoyed Trunk or Treat, the bounce house, games, hot dogs, smores and TREATS! Over 200 people participated in this fun event. Children's Council greatly appreciates the tremendous support. A huge thank you to the many volunteers who made this evening enjoyable, exciting, and safe.
