CHRISTMAS MORNING SERVICE, Sunday, December 25 th 10:00am Join us Christmas morning for a special worship service. We will have only one service and our Sunday School classes will not meet. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED IN MAKING OUR HARVEST HOEDOWN A HUGE SUCCESS! THIS EVENT KEEPS GETTING BETTER AND BETTER AND IT S ALL BECAUSE OF WORKERS LIKE YOU! SPECIAL THANKS TO JANET PORTER FOR ORGANIZING SUCH A HUGE EVENT. SHE HAS LEARNED THAT THERE REALLY IS NO SUCH THING AS A PART TIME CHURCH EMPLOYEE.

2 YOUNG IN HEART Young In Heart went on their annual Apple Trip on October 18. The weather was beautiful and the trip was enjoyed by all. Our next meeting will be November 17th and Clarence Stewart will be the guest speaker. He will be singing and giving his testimony. Also, please bring an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots. This is a catered luncheon, so please call Linda Hodges to reserve your spot. PRAYER I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions and thanksgiving be made for all people, for kings and all people in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good and pleases God our Savior who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of truth. (1 Timothy 2:1-4 NIV) As Christians we have the privilege to pray for the president and political leaders of our nation. Consider the alternatives, pray for guidance that we can re-capture His vision and vote as the Lord leads. If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV) Please pray for the restoration of our country, our election and vote. The next one might be too late. MORE RECYCLING OPTIONS We have put a new recycling bin into service. In addition to our paper recycling bin, we have added a bin where you can drop off your aluminum cans. Both bins are located at the back of the large parking lot. By recycling your papers and cans with us, you are helping to fund the transportation expenses associated with our student ministry.

3 OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD Operation Christmas Child delivers great joy to millions of children around the world through shoeboxes lovingly and prayerfully packed with gifts that will bring delight to a child. In the hands of local churches, every gift-filled shoebox is a powerful tool for evangelism and discipleship transforming the lives of children and their families around the world through the Good News of Jesus Christ! As shoebox gifts are distributed, local pastors or church leaders present the Gospel in a fun way designed for kids while family and friends listen in. Along with their shoebox gift, children also receive The Greatest Gift, a colorful presentation of the Gospel in their own language. Packing a shoebox is easy and fun. First, pack the shoe box with items such as: toy cars, yo-yos, jump ropes, balls, toys that light up and make noise (pack extra batteries in their original packaging), pens, pencils, pencil sharpeners, crayons, markers, notebooks, paper, solar calculators, coloring books, picture books, toothbrushes, bar soap, washcloths, T-Shirts, socks, hats, sunglasses, hair clips, jewelry, watches, flashlights, (with extra batteries), etc. Second, you can add in a personal note and a photo of yourself or your family. Include your name and address and the child may be able to write back. Last, put in that WOW! item. Delight a child with a medium to large item that will capture their attention the moment they open the box. These items can be a soccer ball with a pump, a stuffed animal, puppets, truck, a doll, a musical instrument, an outfit or shoes, etc. DO NOT INLCUDE used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy guns, knives or military figures; chocolate or food; out-of-date candy; liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans Operation Christmas Child empty shoeboxes are available throughout the church. Ingathering is Sunday, November 20th. Collection Days for the Community are: Monday, November 14th from 10am 1pm Tuesday, November 15th from 10am 1pm Wednesday, November 16th from 10am-1pm Thursday, November 17th from 6pm-8pm Friday, November 18th from 6pm-8pm Saturday, November 19th from 10am-1pm Sunday, November 20th from 2pm-4pm

4 STUDENTS - Gary McEntire NEW STUDENT LED MISSIONS MINISTRY Our students have formed a new missions ministry called ONE:EIGHT. The reference is to Acts 1:8 which states: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Our plan is to adopt a few local groups (i.e. a children s home, a fire station, a police station), and focus our attention on them. The first thing they wanted to do was to honor our troops for Veteran s Day. They wanted to have an awareness drive to help us all to remember to pray for our troops standing in harm s way. Our students have placed green bins filled with toy plastic soldiers around the church and are asking that you take one as a reminder to pray for our troops. OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD Operation Christmas Child is underway! This ministry collects shoeboxes full of Christmas gifts and ships them to children overseas that otherwise might not receive any gifts. Our students just spend a Sunday afternoon shopping for gifts and packing boxes so they can impact a child s life overseas. We will still be collecting until the collection date of November 20th. WINTER CONFERENCE FOR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FINAL PAYMENT DUE On December 27-29, our middle and high school students will be attending the Xtreme Winter Conference in Gatlinburg, TN. The cost is $125 / participant. This cost includes 2 nights of lodging. Musical acts will include: Skillet, Lecrae, Crowder, Tenth Avenue North, Newsong, and others. Speakers will include Tony Nolan, Tom Richter, Johnny Hunt and Clayton Jennings. All money and paperwork are due Sunday, November 6th. CHILDREN - Janet Porter Thank you! Our Harvest Hoedown was a huge success and enjoyed by over 500 people because of you. Your donations, prayers and hard work have touched the community in a mighty way. I know God will use our efforts to reach people in our community for Him. I am proud to be a part of a body of believers that can work together for His glory. Thank you for all you do to serve Him! AWANA clubbers have been working hard to memorize their Bible verses and do mission work. It makes my heart happy when the clubbers come to game time and they can recite God s word. They have also collected clothes, food and personal hygiene items for various local organizations. AND, every week each clubber brings their offering to give to our AWANA mission project so far the clubbers have collected over $120 to sponsor other clubs around the world. This month, AWANA clubbers will be collecting hats, gloves and scarves for MUST Ministries as well as writing letters to our troops overseas. These clubbers are living out God s promises and doing His kingdom work!
