Street Repair Project: The church is accepting donations to cover the cost of the street repair on the north side of the church. The cost is $6, which will be due after the project is completed in December or divided over 10 years at 4 ½ percent interest. *Please designate as Street Repair on donation envelope.* Donations received-to-date = $3,965 Electronics: The church is looking for donations of gently used computer and miscellaneous electronic equipment. Examples include: laptop computer, computer monitor, DVD player, blue-ray player, etc. The 29ers will meet on Wednesday, October 24 th at 12:00 p.m. for Potluck. The Schroeder s are hosting. 3 Bible Reading Schedule On October 31st, 1517 a monk named Martin Luther nailed a piece of paper to the door of a church in Wittenberg, Germany. This event is known as the beginning of the Reformation. The Reformation put the Bible back into the hands of the lay people of the Christian Church. Luther translated the Bible into the everyday language of the people. Today we are able to read God's Word in our own language. God's Word tells us of the blessed work of Christ. He came that sinners, like the penitent Publican, might be justified (Luke 18:14). In Acts God tells us that all who believe in Christ are justified (Acts 3:39). Because of God's justifying grace in Christ we shall be dressed in white linen robes. They symbolize the righteousness of Christ in which we have been clothed. In these robes we shall live as God's holy people for all eternity (Isaiah 61:10; Revelation 7:9-17). OCTOBER 1. 4 Cotta Guild: September Meeting Minutes We went singing at Colony Court. Upon return, Pastor Zimmer had devotions based on Matthew 8:23-27, Jesus Calming The Waves. The August minutes and treasurer s reports were read and carried. Linda Seifert cleaned the Sunday School curtains and a thank you went out to her. A thank you from the Board of Evangelism was read, for Cotta Guild s donation to the Brian Young gathering at the Central Building Auditorium. Please remember your secret sisters and brothers. LWML Sunday will be on October 7 th. Flowers will be provided for the altar and a motion was passed. A door offering will be taken and three ladies volunteered to do this. The Fall LWML Rally will be in Albert Lea on September 15, So far four ladies are going. We motioned and seconded to send $100 to the rally that will go to the Dwelling Place. Barb Denn and Cindy Wood gave their convention reports. We motioned and carried $50 for soap to Donna Hildebrandt s quilting group. October 14 will be Pastor Appreciation Sunday. We will need 2 10x15 pan of bars and 2 workers from each circle. Barb Denn s circle will have the nominating committee choices for the October meeting. Birthday s for September are Lucille Gregor and Michelle Hammer. The October meeting will be our soup supper at 6 p.m. Let Linda Seifert know what kind of soup your circle will be bringing. --Kathy Flogstad, Public Relations Cotta Guild News: Cotta Guild will meet Thursday, October 11, at 6:00 P. M. for a soup supper. Each circle is to bring a crockpot of soup. Cindy Wood will have a devotion. All ladies of St. Paul Lutheran are invited to join us for fellowship and some tasty soups. Pre-Order Pies: If you are interested in pre-ordering fresh fruit pies (frozen, ready to bake) from Cotta Guild, please sign-up at the bulletin board near the elevator. Pie selections are: Colorado Peach, Michigan Blueberry, and Minnesota Apple. Cost is $9.00 per pie and payment is due on pick-up dates scheduled for Saturday, November 3 rd from 3-5 PM and Sunday, November 4 th from PM.

5 Sunday School News We are studying God s Creation of the World and His People. Ages 3 through Grade 5 start at 10:20am, immediately following Fellowship time in the Parish Hall. We begin in the Sanctuary for opening and music. They conclude downstairs, beneath the Parish Hall, with class time. Classes are grouped according to younger and older students. Students are released to their parents at 11:15am. Purchase Items Now for Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes Collection boxes are out! Shop the school supply sales, summer clearance clothing racks and clearance toy bins to stock up for shoeboxes that will be packed in November. Please pray for the program and the children around the world who will receive the Christmas boxes. Donations are also accepted for the $9 shipping cost per shoebox. Please note: no liquids, pastes or candy allowed. All items must be small enough to fit in a medium-sized shoebox. Suggested items include: Toothbrush (no toothpaste) Toothbrush case Washcloths Bar soap, Plastic soap box Pens in black, red, green, and blue Pencils, Colored pencils Erasers, Dried watercolor paint sets Small pencil sharpeners Notebooks Combs, Brushes, Hair accessories Small soccer ball or other ball with hand pump Bowl, cup, Water bottle Jump ropes, Marbles Harmonica, Playing cards Simple watch Solar calculator Sunglasses, Band-Aids Socks Short-sleeved shirts brand new, plain for boys and girls of all ages Flashlights with extra batteries (many do not have electricity) Baby doll with light brown skin and no hair (good for a child of any color) Toy car, truck, airplane (bigger wheels better in the dirt, but must fit in shoebox) Collection boxes are at the entrances or can be given to Laurie in the church office, Aimee Paulson, or Jen LaCroix. Items will be stored in a locked room until the packing party in November.
