If you have not got one to hand there are more available from the leaflet distributors in the welcome area. A special welcome to any visitors with us today We serve tea, coffee and soft drinks after the morning services in the small hall each week. Do stay and meet together with us.

4 Lenten Cross Liturgy Our liturgy this year comes from Nexus Methodist Church, a Christian Community in Bath where 2 Methodist churches have united, using one building as their main worship centre and both as community centres to serve the people of Bath. May the words and symbols help us as we travel through Lent. LENT LITURGY 2016 Leader:-On the first Sunday in Lent, as Jesus endures the temptations and decides to put his trust in God of the covenant rather than take the easy or even sensible way, we place stones at the foot of our Lenten Cross. A basket of stones is placed by the cross. Leader: And a voice came from heaven: You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased. At once the Spirit sent him out into the wilderness, and he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him. [Mark 1:11-13] All: God of covenant, help us not so much to focus on what we give up this Lent as on how much we give in to your ways. Amen Valentines Biscuit Walk today!! First a big thank you to all who brought biscuits this morning. Everyone here is are invited to do the walk after the service. Tables with biscuits will be set out in the vestibule. Take a foil tin from the first table, walk the tables and fill with biscuits of your choice. Make your donations at the end of the walk - suggested donations are 3 for large tins and 1.50 for small tins - and 10p a biscuit for children who can't wait!! Keep the tins to take home your biscuits. Finally, a special thank you to those who are not at Church today and have given a donation. Thanks all. Tony and Ruth Johnson. Lent Course Our Lent Courses will be at Priory 7:30pm on Mondays starting tomorrow, 15th Feb, then at Willington Methodist Church on Wednesday evenings starting 17th Feb. St Mary s are having their sessions on Monday afternoons 2:30pm starting 15th Feb. Plenty of opportunities to join us. The book for the Course Finding a Voice will be available at 5.50 each. Please sign up for the course and indicate if you would like a book. They have much material in them and can be referred to after the course has ended. Priory Railway Club The first meeting in 2016 will be on the 15 th February at 7.30pm. The programme will be a mixture of short items given by members. There will also be an opportunity to discuss the Club programme for the year ahead and any visits. A welcome is given to all with an interest in railways. Praying for us Those who heard Curate Ben Lewis from St Mary s preach at Priory recently will recall that he committed to pray for Priory on his retreat at Walsingham. We have received a card from Walsingham to say that he did indeed do so; it is on the main notice board in the vestibule.

5 John Durant It is with regret that we have learned of the death of John Durrant who only recently reached the age of 98. John was the oldest and longest serving resident at Anjulita Court. For many years John along with his wife Peggy and children Judith and Tim were active members at Priory until they responded to an appeal for leadership and support to be given to our partner Church at Park Road. It was here that they gave generously of their time and gifts until Peggy s untimely death in 1997, aged 71, and John going into residential care. There will be a Thanksgiving Service for the life of John at Priory on Thursday February 25th at 1-30pm followed by a service of committal at Bedford Crematorium at 2-30pm. Bill Davies Thank you A very belated thank you for the beautiful flowers - and thoughts - brought by Marlene two weeks ago. I have just today thrown the last ones out - they kept so well! Pauline Williams. A wet and windy Monday was brightened by a visit from Liz bearing flowers from Priory. Thank you to Liz, and to our Priory friends for your kind thought. Hopefully I shall be back among you soon. Sue Butler Baby, Cheryl, Djamah and I wish to say a big thank Kathy Lewis for braving 100 mile per hour gust to deliver such lovely flowers. We appreciated it so much. Tsatsu and Cheryl s baby girl is called Carissa Abui Ewurama Djeanor Ametefe. Mum and baby doing well Please help carry our sincerest gratitude to the big Priory Family for remembering us in your prayers and kindness. We hope to introduce Baby to the family very soon. We will cover the first two foundation sessions which look at: Why We Care (Values behind our caring & Using the Bible to identify themes of pastoral practice); and Developing Care Skills (Empathetic Listening & Using the Bible to inform our pastoral care). BELIEF BELIEF are very pleased to be able to tell you that The Very Reverend Dr Jeffrey John will be joining us again on Saturday 20 th February 2016 at St Andrews Church, Kimbolton Ave, Bedford MK40 2PF from 10am to 1pm and will be speaking on The Gospel of St Luke. We are also very excited to announce that Bishop Peter Doyle will be speaking to BELIEF on his attendance at "The Synod on Family Life" in This event is on Saturday 4 th June 2016 from 10am to 1pm at St Andrews Church, Kimbolton Road Bedford MK 40 2PF. 8 100m Lent morning on prayer Saturday 12th March 2016 at Priory Methodist Church,Newnham Avenue am pm We are delighted to announce that Carl Brettle, CEO and Founder of 100m will be coming to Bedford in March to encourage us to reflect deeper on prayer and look at how we can have confidence in our expectant of seeing people come to faith. Carl will be speaking at Priory Methodist Church on Saturday 12th March The FREE Lent morning programme is for the whole church across Bedford and the surrounding areas between 10.30am and 1.00pm However, we will start with refreshments from 10.00am then there will be a prompt start. As CEO of newly launched, 100m, Carl has a very simple but LARGE vision 'to see 100m make a decision for Christ'. This will not be restricted to the UK and it may take several years, but Carl's aim is to continue until we see this figure reached. Before launching 100m, Carl was Director of Operations and also Director of Ministry at United Christian Broadcasters, responsible for all non-broadcast engagement for this national Christian ministry. 100m aims to work with Organisations, Denominations, Churches, Ministries and Individuals to bring resources to one place and help train and equip anyone that would like to join in the vision. Launching this month, Carl has started 100m literally from the ground up with new systems and a blank canvas so to speak. One of the main 100m projects is an digital evangelism resource which Carl developed while he was at UCB, which they kindly allowed him to take with him when he left. It can bring some of life s biggest joys, but also its greatest challenges. For most of us, a bit of encouragement and a reminder that we re not alone can make a real difference. The aim of this brand new event is to have you leaving inspired and empowered as a mum or dad. During the evening we ll share practical tips that you can take away and put into action at home straight away.
