SUNDAY PRAYER MEETINGS - please note that there is a prayer meeting at 10am to pray for the 10.15am service plus a meeting at 6pm for the evening service. These meetings take place in the Prayer Room and are open to all who wish to attend and pray for the services. CAN WE PRAY WITH YOU? After each service there are members of our church who will be happy to pray with you about anything that may be on your heart. Anyone is welcome to come and receive prayer. PRAYER BOOK (situated in the corridor between the church and hall) Please use this book for prayer needs - updating it as they progress. It is especially valuable to put requests for healing prayers. Many people make reference to the book during the week as well as on Sunday. If there is anyone in the congregation who would also like to remember someone you are very welcome to attend. It would be really lovely if other members of the congregation could come along and support those who are remembering both during the service and over coffee afterwards. 3 ST PAUL S CHURCH - STRINES Sunday 29 th April am Holy Communion Guest Speaker: Brenda Beardwood sharing the latest developments at the Potter s Village after the service there will be craftwork and home-made cakes on sale all proceeds to the Potter s Village EVERYONE WELCOME On Saturday 5th May 2018 the Bishop of Stockport, the Right Reverend Libby Lane, and the Archdeacon of Macclesfield, the Venerable Ian Bishop, are going to prayer walk Chadkirk Deanery as part of the national prayer initiative, Thy Kingdom Come. see Their plan is to start a pilgrimage walk from St Mark s Bredbury at 10.00am and walk to Romiley centre - St Chad s. They will then walk to Marple in time for lunch (around 12.30pm in Market Street) and hopefully meet up with others from the HOTS Team and Churches Together to pray. They will then continue their walk to High Lane and Disley and take in the last part of the Deanery, Whaley Bridge, by car. GOING ON A MISSION... Hey, as many of you know this year I have been interning at Glo and doing the New Wine Discipleship Year. On Monday the 7th May 2018 I am going to be undertaking a 30 mile walk from Bolton to High Lane, along the canal, in order to raise money to go on mission trip to Sri Lanka as part of my New Wine Discipleship year. We go from the 3rd-15th June 2018 and, while over there, we are going to be working with Child Action Lanka (CAL), a charity working with street children in centres all over Sri Lanka. We will be based in their centre in the city of Kandy, and I'm looking forward to learning from the kids both about their resilience, and through their life experiences. We will in turn be working to show them love, and talk about Jesus love for them while helping with their schooling, playing games with them, and helping build a new park for them to play on. If you would like to support me in this endeavour please see Kim Irvine (my MUM) who has a sponsorship form or visit our go fund me page... Every penny, prayer, and words of support, are so very, very appreciated. 4 HELPERS NEEDED on Tuesday mornings, at CONNECT, to help run toddler group please contact Sarah Holton on if you would like more information... COOK WANTED for LUNCH CLUB The Lunch Club, that meets at the Marple United Reformed Church, Hibbert Lane, Marple, on a Monday and Friday, is staffed by local volunteers mainly from the local churches. The club is for older people and provides a 2 course meal along with good company and some entertainment. We are looking for several people to come and help COOK ON A MONDAY. This would be once a month. COULD THIS BE YOU!?!?!? The team would be most grateful for your assistance. Some training in Food Hygiene would be helpful but could be organised. We have collated your submissions and produced a book with the hope that you can learn a little of other people s stories and be inspired by how scripture speaks to each of us. The book will be on sale after the morning services. There will be a minimum donation of 10 per book with 2 from each book being given to the Bible Society. CO-HEADTEACHERS at ALL SAINTS CE PRIMARY SCHOOL Some of you will be aware that Helen Morton returned to work as Headteacher of All Saints CE Primary School at the start of this term following her maternity leave. Governors agreed that Helen could return to work on a part -time basis and have appointed a new co- Headteacher - Hannah Gaynor - to work with Helen from September. Hannah is currently deputy Headteacher at Westminster Primary School in Ellesmere Port and will bring with her a wide range of experience and expertise. She is a committed Christian and we are delighted that she will be joining the team at All Saints. When she has settled in to her new role, I hope that she will be able to visit us one Sunday (as Helen has done over the last few years) and tell us a little more about herself. 5 Finding Hope in the Midst of Loss - a service,, including an Act of Remembrance, for those who have lost a loved one Sunday 6 th May pm at All Saints Church 155 Church Lane, Marple, SK6 7LD A funeral is a time when we say our goodbyes to a lost loved one but the process of grieving and remembering them can continue long after how long is different for us all. We would love to invite you to a Service of Remembrance if it would give you comfort as you continue to remember someone you have lost. If you wish to bring other members of your family or friends with you please do so. During this service there will be a mixture of readings, hymns and reflections ending in an act of remembrance during which you may, if you want to, light a candle and hear the name of your loved one read out. If you intend to join us it would help our planning if you could return the slip below. If you can t do so before the service don t worry, simply leave the slip in the basket at the entrance to the church and we will collect it before the service begins.
