We hope you will be blessed and challenged by today s message. If you are visiting our Church for the first time, please introduce yourself to one of our welcomers, or to one of the stewards, who, at this morning s service, are Frances Aylen and Phillip Kolade. Please join us in the Hall after the service for coffee or tea and a biscuit. Your hosts are Vi and Paul, and donations are for Cancer Research. 2 We have been very saddened to learn that Des Ffoulkes passed away on Wednesday night. Our love and prayers go to Kath and all the family. Further details will be known next week. You might not have heard the sad news of Hazel Brearley s death. Her funeral will take place this coming Saturday 17 th November, 10.45am, at Amersham Crematorium. Our thoughts and prayers are with Michael and all the family. Remembrance Poppies. To mark the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1 the Boys' Brigade have made the display of 100 poppies that now adorn the front of the pulpit. Each poppy was hand made by Anchor, Junior, Company and Senior boys. John Miskin We have received a letter of thanks and a certificate from Whitechapel Mission for our Harvest gifts please look on the vestibule noticeboard. Are you new to our Church or have joined us in the last year and not attended a Welcome Tea? Our next tea is on Saturday November 24th from 4.00 until 6.00 p.m. and we do hope that you and your family will be able to join us. It s an informal gathering, with time to chat to our Minister and a few members of the Church. Our annual Toy Service will be held on December 2nd at a.m. and all toys will be taken to the Action for Children Family Centre in Aylesbury for distribution to families in Aylesbury and the surrounding villages. One of the main needs is for children under 5, but there are also many families with older children who would love to receive a present. If you are able, please bring along a new toy or gift for a child who will otherwise receive very little. If you are unable to purchase a gift, a small donation in a sealed envelope will be welcome. The date Sunday March 17th at 2.30 p.m. Coach booked, leaving either from the Church, Bedgrove or Wendover with time for a coffee after church and time to enjoy your packed lunch on the coach. Price just (includes 35% discount) with no extras to pay. Take a booking form from the Welcome Area and return before the end of November. Pauline Noble. Save the date: Christmas/New Year walk and lunch will be on Saturday 29th December this year, hopefully to give a chance for the workers to join in. If you have not recently handed in your box for counting, please either bring your box in, or empty it yourself and put the money in a bag clearly marked with your name. 5 GOOD NEWS FROM AROUND THE CIRCUIT PRINCES RISBOROUGH Dear All This Sunday, 11 November, it is the turn of Princes Risborough to be the focus of our Circuit Prayers. There is a lot going on here, both inside the church and out. It is always a healthy sign to see work being undertaken for those who are in need in the world, as a Christian response to events around us. And it is really encouraging to see events being held for those within the church fellowship who sometimes get neglected. There are details of all these events on the church website - do check for more information - if you can go to any of these events I know you will be made very welcome. Please support the work and the people there in your prayers this Sunday. Pete Honeyball In Risborough we held our harvest festival on 7th October, where we brought lots of items to be sent to Whitechapel Mission. Money raised from a sale of fresh goods and from the lunch held after the service raised 210 for All We Can s Indonesian disaster appeal. Some of the men have started organising bi-monthly coffee mornings. The 3 held so far have all been well received, bringing an opportunity for fellowship and the chance to enjoy delicious cakes. Although they were not intended as fundraisers, money has also been raised for church funds. The next coffee morning is on Saturday 15th December. We have started holding occasional prayer breakfasts at the church. These offer friendship, fellowship, a time of quietness, meditation and reflection and the opportunity to enjoy a continental style breakfast. Dates of future prayer breakfasts will be posted on the circuit website when known. Also a working party from the church is currently exploring ways in which we might look at the requirement of the Methodist Conference to develop (and write) a plan for growth.
