5 Thanks I would like to thank Priory friends for the flowers and the opportunity to talk to Paddy Barrett and Gordon and Denise Beeden, The conversations added to the delight of looking at the lovely flowers which I appreciate. Evelyn Scott BELIEF Andrew Bradstock National Secretary for Church and Society at United Reformed Church will be speaking to BELIEF on How should we as Christians be approaching a general election? On Saturday 18 th April 2015 from 10am to 1pm at Priory Methodist Church Newnham Avenue Bedford MK41 9QJ 10 per person (including refreshments) Payable on the day No advance booking See poster on the board in the welcome area for further information. Easter Lilies Donated by: John Ayers Paddy Barrett Wyn Beck Marjorie Bolster Eve Briggs Sue & Richard Butler Sue & Steve Gordon Anna Graham Rex Mayes Calvert Powell Ann Sewell Gordon Shorten Pauline Williams In Memory of: Fred, Phyllis and Philip Ayers Thomas & Gladys Barrett Walter & Mary Riddy Betty Clark Peter Beck Parents Victor Briggs and David Briggs Bill & Margaret Wilde Phil Butler and Ruth Raley Marjorie Howard Vic & Dolly Gordon Mick Richardson Malcolm Graham Fred & Doris Mayes and Rosemary Mayes Albertha Powell, James Powell James E Dore Ronald Dixon & Kathleen Dixon Raymond Holford and David Sewell Jean Shorten and Mabel Telford John Williams Church Garden Keeping the church garden in good order is a large undertaking and over the last few years Jeremy and Susan Arthern and I have led a team of occasional helpers in this. We would like to hand over the responsibility and suggest a team to have a monthly attack on the garden weeding and tidying. Once the annual spring pruning is done, that and the regular cutting of the grass is all that is necessary. We have a new mower to make cutting the grass less physically demanding. Any offers of help would be greatly appreciated either to me or to John Lingings. Gordon Beeden

6 Defibrillator We have almost raised the money to cover the cost of our project for this year, the defibrillator which is now in the vestibule. In order to reach the final total, PLT will be offering cakes for sale to consume with your coffee after worship on Sunday 19 th April. Please come and buy something to eat then, or take home. Thank you. Extra Ordinary Church Council Meeting Church Council Members are asked to attend a very brief meeting after Morning Worship on Sunday 19th April, to receive and sign off the Annual accounts. Accommodation Required We are expecting the arrival of our new assistant pastor and his wife and child, at the beginning of May, so are looking for accommodation for them, do you know of anyone, within your congregations who might have a 2 or 3 bed house to let in Bedford? If you can help contact me on admin@threeriversbedford.uk or that would be fantastic. David Cavanagh, Administrator, Three Rivers Church Lay Out of Worship Area There have been a number of conversations about closing off the chapel area for morning worship - at Church Council, and again at Annual Church Meeting (22nd March) There has been overwhelming support for this move for the following reasons 1) The singing will be improved when everyone is closer together, 2) there is a greater sense of being in fellowship when we are physically closer together, 3) it means less work moving the chairs around each Sunday and 4) it is much better for the preacher if he / she can see the members of the congregation. We appreciate that some people do prefer to sit in the chapel, but our hope is that you will try the new arrangements before you make up your mind. The decision has been made, with a vast majority at the ACM, that the chapel area will be left set out facing the window, and the screens will be closed during morning worship, starting from April 12th - the week after Easter. The box of toys and the blanket for small children will be put 2 rows in front of the doors from the foyer, and we hope that parents and carers will be made welcome in this area of the worship area. The screens will only be pulled back and the chairs moved if the main area is full. Anyone who is distracted by small children is encouraged to sit under the organ loft. Worship on a Sunday morning is of great importance to the members at Priory, and we hope that these changes will enhance our worshipping experience. Rev Glayne Worgan Posters On The Board In The Welcome Area - Updated weekly. Don t forget to take a look at the posters with all the details of events happening at Priory, within the circuit churches and in Bedford - see if any take your interest.
