7 BARS OF SOAP NEEDED COLLECTING THE MONTH OF JUNE Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) is asking for contributions of bar soap for world relief. If you would like to be a part of helping our needy neighbors the world over, we will be collecting any size bars of soap the month of June. Please bring bar soap and place in the box under the Welcome Table in back of the sanctuary. Thank you for your generosity. Also: We will discontinue collecting greeting cards, since there is not a need for them anymore. Thank you! 8 Baby Bottle Boomerang Project This is a Human Life Services project that helps to support and feed those who have a special need. Last year we collected $ by filing baby bottles with donations. Our UMW will be participating with this project this year. There will be baby bottles placed throughout the Social Hall and Courtyard for your donations. Thank you for supporting this project UMW Members SERVANTS FAITH BEYOND THE PEWS UPDATE Thank you to all that donated to Servants Faith Beyond the Pews. We celebrated 25 years this year. We had a great week serving the community. 96 volunteers 25 area churches participated ages volunteer hours over $105,000 worth of labor We had 6 people from Christ Church work this week. 8 people helped with the Friday meal that served 100 people. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I greatly appreciate it! Diana Thoman
9 Community Reach needs help with Kids Kafe. They will need volunteers to help pack and distribute lunch bags this summer. Volunteers to help pack the bags are for Wed. at 9am weekly and to help hand the bags out to families Mondays at 9am weekly LOCATION CHANGE : packing and distribution of bags will be done now at Family Church of God on 1st st. Red Lion up the street from Community Reach. Anyone interested in helping/volunteering (does not need to be every week but whenever you can) please contact Brenda Holcolmb at COLLECTING BACKPACKS AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES R.E.C.S (Rivers Edge Community Services) will be collecting school supplies for distribution at Eastern York Elementary schools and the Middle school. Our church will be collecting the following items 10 Regular size backpacks pocket folders /2 inch 3 ring binders Also the school is always in need of tissues (boxes) and hand sanitizer, children sizes underwear (new), sweat pants various sizes and for both girls and boys (can be new or gently used) socks, and belts. These items are always needed throughout the entire year. Collection will be from now until July 29th in the Welcome Area Any questions, please see or call Trish Henise
10 VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL Mon. July 9th-Fri. July 13th 9am-11:30am Ages 4 through Grade 6 Need volunteers for these Staff positions:: Teachers for 4s & elementary Memory helper Rec leader (Tues & Thurs) See the sign up poster at the VBS table, thank you! *SKIT Reading: Each skit day is different characters so you can be in all 5 days or choose the day. If you are thinking about being in any of the skits, we will read through each day TODAY! June 24th after 10:30a.m. worship in the Courtyard. See Sarah Sweeney with questions. The summer lunch program held at Wrightsville Presbyterian Church is in need of one volunteer for Tuesdays and backup volunteers to fill in on a day that a regular volunteer cannot be there. The program runs Monday through Friday, June 4 to Aug. 17 and is from 11 am to 1 pm. They may also serve food on Aug. 20 and 21. The food is already prepared and volunteers simply hand it out to the children. If someone is interested, please have them contact Becky Kopp (beckpp955@cs.com).
11 Tell Me The Stories of Jesus Parable of the Weeds...42 The Jackie Robinson Story For 13 Sundays this summer Pastor Jason and Boone will compare Jesus s parables to modern day movies. You won t want to miss a Sunday with attendance incentives, popcorn bar (yes, you may take the popcorn into worship!), parables told through video, movie clips from a variety of genres and the sermons of how modern day movies relate to the stories Jesus told to His followers. Enjoy the popcorn bar (you may take popcorn into the sanctuary) Bring your film strip with all 13 weeks depicted on it. Each week it will be stamped to show your attendance. Use it as a bookmark or clip it, your choice! There will be prizes based on attendance! Go to the ticket booth to get a ticket. Fill it out with your name and phone number for end of summer attendance incentive prizes! Drop it in the ticket box in the welcome area. Invite your friends and family!
