Take your evil deeds out of my sight! Isaiah1:16 NIV The best protection against colds or the flu is careful hand washing. Plain soap and water combined with rubbing your hands together are effective to remove germs. Antibacterial soaps are common but work no better than regular liquid soap and even increase resistance to antibacterial chemicals. A chemical to avoid in hand soap is Triclosan. Some European countries do not allow this chemical in tooth paste as well, unless prescribed by a dentist. Research is showing that Triclosan is entering the water supply and harming fish. Please contact Pastor Heather ASAP if you are willing to be extra hands downstairs in the 10:00 a.m. children s Sunday School hour. ALTAR FLOWERS FOR 2013 The 2013 Flower Chart is on the table under the stairway. Please take time to stop by and sign up to provide Altar Flowers. Cost is $30 and you may take your flowers home following the 10:00 a.m. Worship Service. A bill will be sent to you directly from The Lovebug. Should you choose to pay ahead in person, the billing savings will be added in flowers to your arrangement. ATTENTION ALL CHILDREN AND PARENTS! NEEDED VOLUNTEERS FOR THE CHRISTMAS EVE CHILDREN'S PROGRAM BY SUNDAY, NOV. 18. The Children's Choirs (preschool through 5th graders) will be performing during the Christmas Eve program, but the church is looking for more children to participate (preschool through High School). If your child wants to join the children's choirs, practices are Wednesdays at 6:15 to 7 pm with Susan Vanlandingham and Susan Hunter directing. If not the choir, but your child would like to still share their talents such as playing a piano or other instruments, dance, or sing a solo, etc, please contact the church office or Pastor Heather as soon as possible to be included in the program. Also over the next few weeks, you child may be interviewed and put on the Christmas video as to "How they are planning to celebrate Christmas this year, or what they will be giving Jesus for his birthday". So you may help prepare them for an interview too. Most videoing will take place during 9 am or 10 am children's Sunday School classes or following the 10 am service. Also needed: a videographer, a film editor, and director for the Christmas program, please contact the church office or Pastor Heather as soon as possible. 6 CELEBRATE KIDS FIRST CHILDCARE 15th Anniversary NOVEMBER 18 During 10 a.m. worship Followed by an Open House Everyone Welcome!!! For November, on November 11, we will be meeting at Pilgrims for a Veterans day camp fire cook out. Please meet at the church at 5:30 p.m. to ride the church bus. On November 18, we will have a progressive dinner and there will be no youth group on November 25. Jessi Bair, Youth Leader WHAT DO EGGS AND A RULER HAVE IN COMMON? They both have a dozen of something! The youth group is working to make a dozen military care packages by December 9 and we need your help! There will be lists on the tables during coffee hour and one hung up by the military bulletin board of items we would like to put in our care packages! If you could, please bring twelve of what you donate so each person serving our country can get an awesome care package. Thank you! First United Methodist Youth Group IT S TIME TO TAKE A TAG Our outreach Christmas Tree is upstairs in the area outside the elevator. Tags are attached with ages and wishes of needy children of our community. Other tags are for financial help with gifts for FUMC shut ins. MARRIED COUPLES : Starting Sunday Dec. 2 Kelly Schuler will be leading a new Sunday School class devoted to having a Christian marriage that goes BEYOND ORDINARY. We will meet at 9 am in the copier room, but we are open to meeting a time and day other than Sunday morning? If you have an interest, and have a preference of another day/time please kschuler@omnicityusa.com. A donation of $500 has been made to FUMC in memory of Vear & Hazel Howell. They were members of the former Mill Street Methodist Church and the Church of Our Savior UMC. EXERCISE VIDEO CLASS Cindy Hoffman and Pastor Heather are exploring the possibility of an exercise class on Wednesdays during Children s Choir practices (6:15 6:45pm). During November and December, our children will be rehearsing for Christmas Eve 5:30 p.m. Family Worship. Let Cindy or Pastor Heather know your preferences in exercise styles. THANK YOU! Noah s Nursery 9:00-11:00 a.m. Learning activities on Sundays and for special worship services. Jesus Friends 9:00 a.m. Children meet in the Children s gathering area for a one room learning and relationship building experience. Memorizing Bible verses, crafts, games, Bible stories, and snacks will be rotated as we learn to be a friend of Jesus. Bible Explorers Sunday School, 10:00 a.m. New this fall is Grow Proclaim Serve curriculum. Bible Story, music and movement will be shared together. Then the children will break into small age related groups and dig deeper and apply the Bible story to their lives. Mission projects for their weekly offering will also be introduced.
