2 July 2018 PASTOR S PONDERINGS I hope and pray that this mid-point of 2018 will mark a new day for educational ministry at Redeemer Lutheran Church. All the signs seem right new growth with a lot of young children; sky-high morale, enthusiasm, a great climate for mission, and an eagerness to get things going. Therefore, I ve given a lot of thought to planning for the new school year beginning Rally Day on 26 August. There are several things I would like to see. With a good core group on the Christian Education Committee, we need to meet this month and elect co-chairs. I would suggest one co-chair who has been at Redeemer for more than 5 years, the other for less than 5 years. Please prayerfully and carefully consider your gifts, and determine if a co-chair position feels right for you. That would be much more satisfactory than if I have to try to figure out who would best fit the job. Most exciting are the prospects for Christian education groups this fall! I firmly believe that we can sustain the following classes: Pre-school on Sunday mornings at 9:00 Elementary School on Sunday mornings at 9:00 Confirmation Class (Grades 5-9) on Sunday mornings at 9:00 New class for adults and older youth (name TBD) on Sunday mornings at 9:00 Adult Bible Class on Sunday mornings at 9:00 Women s Bible Study on Thursday nights at 7:00 in the fall and spring You can easily see that this exactly doubles the number of classes which we had during the school year. Obviously, this means more volunteers to teach or lead the discussion in these groups. I will have the Confirmation Class, of course; but we will need one or two teachers for the Elementary School Class, and one or two to facilitate discussion in the new adult class - or team teaching would be fine. Again, it would be far better if these volunteers would step forward and truly volunteer instead having to be sought out. Consider this the fullness of time. Make these hopes and dreams your own! Seize this opportunity which is so timely and so great! God s peace, Pastor Clark+ July 2018 Page 1
