1 First Presbyterian Church encourages people to live their lives faithfully, daily, where they are, and with what they have been entrusted, to the glory of God. Our mission is to let our light shine and be beacons of hope, equipping people for life in the world. PRELUDE WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS CHORAL INTROIT DEEPLY ROOTED IN FAITH (* for those able to stand) CALL TO WORSHIP AND PRAYER FOR THE DAY * PROCESSIONAL HYMN PH #138 Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty! PRAYER OF CONFESSION Help us to remember, O Lord, for we seem to practice forgetting. We forget who made us and why, we forget your daily grace and unremitting love, we forget your forgiveness of ourselves and our neighbors. We forget so much because there are some things we remember too well: perceived injustices done to us, times of betrayal and cowardice we try to keep hidden, moments of envy and pride of which we are ashamed. Forgive our sins, our sins of forgetting and remembering, and help us, we pray, to trust in him who buries all our sins deep in the tomb of his own death and raises us up daily to a life of happy service in Jesus Christ. In his name we pray. Amen. PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION June 3, 2012 VBS SUNDAY (Children in the balcony may now come down to be ready for Children s Time.)
