1 Pastor s Letter November has arrived. A season of thankfulness is here. Spend a few moments this week thinking about what you are thankful for. Food and shelter, oil to work the furnace, electricity, our pets, volunteers, my coat, a blanket, a bed, the sun, Jesus the son, my children.spoke people everywhere. Monday 10 am The November Bible Study will be based on the book of Ruth. We will be reading a bible study book called, The Gospel of Ruth. Sunday November 5, 2017 Honoring Our Veterans & All Saints Day The congregation is invited to bring a photo of a veteran in their life. Photos will be placed on the altar to build a tribute to veterans we have lost and those still serving our country.

2 STEWARDSHIP NEWS Stewardship Expresses Love for All Love for God and Love for Neighbor Stewardship ties two things together. Stewards recognize God s unmerited love for each and every person, and for all other created entities (animals, the natural world, cosmic existence). Stewards also recognize that God s unmerited love calls for love of neighbor. This is a matter of identity. Those who welcome God s love for themselves in turn love others. Who are we? We are beloved of God. What are we to do? We are to love in the generous way that God loves. A few ways we showed Love for neighbor last year were: -Canterbury Cares served over 40 families a month -Giving tree to a needy family -Collected 65 bottles of cleaning products for local charity -We opened our Church to community groups of AA and Brownies -Two weddings were blessed on our sanctuary -Two families were shown our care and compassion during their time of loss (two funerals were held in our sanctuary) -50 Hygiene kits were donated to Hurricane victims -Soup suppers during Lent Sunday November 19 th Dedication Sunday Our pledges and gifts for the Church will be dedicated. Following worship we will gather for a pot luck luncheon. SUNDAY SCHOOL November Bible Lessons 11/5 Solomon becomes King 11/12, Solomon's Wisdom Proverbs 11/19, Solomon Builds the Temple 11/26 Thanksgiving-no class

3 Mission Project: in the coming weeks the Sunday school children will be part of a mission project to raise funds and awareness of children s lives in Guatemala. Through the Pura Vida Organization we will be helping children get an education. YOUTH GROUP Saturday November 18 th 10:00-12:00 we will be gathering in the fellowship hall to make breads for the Thanksgiving food baskets that are being prepared for Canterbury Cares. If you are in the youth group (grade 5 and above) and would like to help out we would love to have you. Please contact Nichole Danis (mdanis74@sbcglobal.net) or Sarah Ginnetti (segtex@yahoo.com). VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Canterbury Cares: Donations Needed Thanksgiving feast items are requested for the month of November stuffing mix, canned pumpkin, cranberry sauce, gravy, canned corn and peas, baking staples: flour, sugar, baking powder. Items needed by Sunday November 19 th.

4 BREAD BAKING: "It's that time of year again when we get ready for the upcoming holiday celebrations! In your preparation if you'd like to give thanks by giving back to others, please consider baking a bread or two for Canterbury Cares food pantry recipients. Please also let Pam Kerouack-Warner know through or phone if you'd like to participate in this effort (pkwarner@charter.net; ) so we'll have enough for all. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration!" COMMUNITY MEAL: Monday November 27 th will be our next turn to serve the dinner at First Baptist Churches soup kitchen. Volunteers are needed to prepare the meal (3:30-5:30), serve the meal (5:30-7), and donate desserts and other food items. More information is on the bulletin board in Hart Hall.
