4 The Mass DVD Study - Beginning Saturday, October 13, 9am Walk through the liturgy with Bishop Barron in his new DVD Series The Mass on Saturday mornings from 9-10:30am beginning this Saturday in. You'll be transformed through insights on this most privileged and intimate encounter with our Lord Jesus Christ. Participants in this seven-part series will see how the Mass brings us out of the fallen world and into the heavenly realm; how it resonates with a call from God and a response from his people, the Church; and, most importantly, how we are intimately joined with the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus through the Holy Eucharist. The Mass will help you understand how to fully, consciously, and actively participate in the source and summit of the Christian life. A beautiful study guide to help you follow along with these DVD presentations by Bishop Barron is available for $25 at the opening session. To register or find out more about this opportunity for Adult Faith Formation, contact Randy Mueller at (651) or rmueller@nativity-mn.org. Called and Gifted Workshop - November 10 Explore the ancient teaching of the Church on how the gifts (or charisms) of the Holy Spirit work in your life and in the life of your parish. Learn the signs and characteristics of the most common charisms of the Holy Spirit in this introductory workshop at Nativity of Our Lord, the first step in a three-part discernment process developed by the Catherine of Siena Institute. The workshop is $80 per person, which includes materials, refreshments, lunch, and a follow-up individual discernment interview. Visit or contact Randy Mueller at (651) or rmueller@nativity-mn.org for more information. Children s Liturgy Volunteers Needed We need your help! Nativity of Our Lord is looking for new wonderful volunteers to help out with the Sunday 9:30am Mass Children's Liturgy program. This is a fun Sunday gospel program we provide for children ages Pre-K through 1st grade throughout the school year. Please contact Kailey Buse at sher0424@gmail.com or (651) for more information. Catechists & Support Needed Volunteers are needed to serve as a catechist (religion teacher) for our grades 1-7 Wednesday evening Faith Formation classes. We need one catechist to offer a 9- month, weekly commitment, and a couple more to serve as substitutes. Prior experience is preferred, but training is available for those who love their Catholic Faith, are excited to share that with our children, and have an eagerness to learn how to do that. Team members are also needed to provide hospitality once or twice a year. Contact Randy Mueller, Faith Formation Director, at (651) or rmueller@nativity-mn.org to learn more. Marathon Fundraiser It s Marathon Time here at Nativity School and in non-public schools across the state of Minnesota. We realize we just had the County Fair, and your generosity was clearly felt at that time; thank you! We are asking for your help again, this time with the Marathon. Our students walked in the Marathon on Friday, and they are still busy collecting pledges throughout this week. This year our 8th graders will not be calling our non-school families to ask for pledges. Instead, there are envelopes in the pews for a free will donation to be placed in today s offering. If you are unable to donate today, please consider taking an envelope home and mail it to the School at a later date. We hope you will be extra generous to this year s Marathon, as we have dropped our other fundraiser, the magazine sale, and we are concentrating our efforts on reaching our goal for our School Marathon. Remember, every penny raised in the Marathon goes directly to supporting our School programs. Thank you in advance for supporting our Nativity students with this important fundraising effort. Choir Anthems - October 7-27th Sunday in Ordinary Time 1. Awake, My Heart - Jane Marshall 2. Come Down, O Love Divine - Todd Wilson Hours Needed The following hours have no adorers scheduled and represent our greatest need for new commitments: Sunday 2am (new hour of need); Monday at 1pm and 4pm; Tuesday at 11am; Wednesday at 3pm; Thursday at 3pm and 8pm; Friday at 2am and 3pm; and Saturday at 11am and 6pm. Visit for more information, or head directly to to sign up online. If you would like to speak to someone about becoming a regular adorer or dedicated substitute, please contact Jim at mcquillanj@rjffs.com or (763) Thank you for your prayerful consideration!

5 Prayer Blessing of the Animals - Sunday, October 7, 12:30pm In honor of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi (October 4), we will offer a blessing of animals in the breezeway outside in between the church and School at 12:30pm this Sunday, October 7. All are welcome! Respect Life 40 Days for Life - Now through November 4 40 Days for Life's Fall lifesaving campaign continues! We invite everybody to join in our positive efforts to protect babies and families from the tragedy of abortion. Thank you to those who have already participated in the past. The focus of this movement is prayer and fasting, community outreach, and peaceful vigil. Nativity of Our Lord and neighboring parishes have adopted two more days of prayer from 7am- 6pm during the rest of these 40 days: this Sunday, October 14 and Monday, October 22. Please join us in daily prayer for the vulnerable and also commit to an hour or more of prayerful vigil on our adopted days at the local Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Saint Paul. Sign-up sheets are at the back of church, or you may sign up online at We are looking for enthusiastic helpers for this lifesaving campaign and all upcoming Respect Life events, so please prayerfully consider joining us. Contact Karen McCann at (612) or karmccann@comcast.net to find out more, or visit or to learn out more about the campaign. If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray...pray and seek my face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 40 Days for Life Chili Cook-Off - Tuesday, October 9, 6pm All are invited to our 40 Days for Life Chili Cook-Off this Tuesday evening in. You may make your own chili for the contest, or just enjoy fellowship, chili, and learning more about 40 Days for Life. Clergy from our parish and neighboring parishes will be the judges. If you are interested in cooking, or would like to RSVP, please contact Jen Rolfes at (651) or jenrolfes13@gmail.com by 10/8. Gosnell Movie - Friday, October 12 Shine the light of truth into the world and support Gosnell, the Trial of American's Biggest Serial Killer, based on the New York Times Best Seller. To view the film with fellow parishioners on opening night this Friday, contact Karen McCann at (612) or visit for show times. NCCW Mass of God s Children - October 15 Those who have experienced the death of a baby before or after birth are warmly invited to attend the 15th annual Mass of God's Children at 7pm on Monday, October 15 in the church.
