5 Dear Parishioners, This weekend we welcome Father Jamie back to All Saints. It is very clear that his sabbatical has been beneficial for his body, mind, and soul. I trust that his time away has given him the strength and new energy to serve as your pastor. Also, it s hard to believe, but next weekend will be my last weekend at All Saints! It is with a heavy heart that say goodbye to the parish. During my 10 years as a priest I have served at 10 different churches and institutions. All of these assignments have been moments of grace and blessing, but 2 of them stand out as extra special; I m going to keep one secret, but the other is All Saints in Gladstone. Let me explain: 1) I have served at All Saints for 2 years, but have actually lived here for about 3 years. When I arrived at All Saints my life was in shambles and the parish provided me a place to help rehabilitate myself. 2) The people of this parish welcomed me with open arms. Your kindness towards me has been very important in my recovery process. Not all parishes are kind to their priests; your kindness helped me get better! I encourage you to always be kind to Father Jamie, Father Peter, and any future priests you get! 3) My time at All Saints has proven to me that I can be the pastor of Resurrection in Menominee. I have learned many things and have sharpened some of my skills. I have been told that I am quite the comedian! Next, I want to thank the staff of the parish for supporting me, so I could do pastoral ministry. We have a wonderful staff at the parish! It s hard to do ministry without a good staff. I especially, want to thank Father Jamie for being willing to take me on as the assistant priest at All Saints. We have been friends for many years and have lived together several times. I am grateful for the support he has shown me these last years. I will be moving to Resurrection in Menominee on July 2. I got to meet with the staff and volunteers of the parish this past Monday and it looks to be a promising assignment. If you are ever in Menominee please stop by and say hello or come to Mass.
