4 Pastoral Care Highland Leisure Age - Wednesday, March 14, 8:30am Nativity of Our Lord hosts this Wednesday s Highland Leisure Age meeting at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, and so this would be a great time for a nice large Nativity cohort to lead the way in strengthening and sustaining this important work which meets every Wednesday from September-June. All seniors are invited to join in the fun and fellowship at this ecumenical senior group, co-sponsored by Nativity and seven other local Christian assemblies. Activities can include card games, sewing, crafts, quilt making, nursing home sewing, and walking. Lunch is served at noon for $8. Lunch tickets should be purchased by 11am. For more information, call Aleda at (651) We are in need of two volunteers to help set up, serve lunch, and clean up from 11:30-1pm. We are also looking for a group of six to lead this ministry for Nativity 3-4 times a year. Please contact Nancy at (651) or nshatek-suek@nativity-mn.org. Thank you! Prayer Shawl Ministry - Thursday, March 15, 8:45am Compassion and the love of knitting/ crocheting have been combined into a prayerful ministry which meets in Steiner Hall and reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace as well as celebration and joy. We will meet on the third Thursday of the month through May. If you like to knit or crochet and would like to become part of this special ministry, contact Sharon Altman at salt_man@comcast.net or (651) March Food Campaign - Now through April 7 Nativity of Our Lord Girl Scouts are again helping to coordinate Nativity s March Food Drive. Why? Because hunger affects one in every ten Minnesota households. This year s theme is End Hunger in Minnesota...Support Your Local Food Shelf. Faith Formation Keeping RCIA Candidates in Prayer Nativity of Our Lord has thirteen people in the RCIA process this year eagerly preparing to receive the Sacraments of Initiation: seven Elect to be Baptized in Christ and six Candidates to make their Profession of Faith and receive full communion with the Catholic Church at the March 31 Easter Vigil. After they renew their Baptismal promises with us, the Candidates will be receiving the Sacraments of Confirmation and their First Holy Communion. Candidates from left to right: Nathan Shrader, Linda Thain, Linda Van Natta (sponsor), Taunya Wirtz, Brett Mernin, and Matthew Van Vleet. Not pictured: Dane Ekdom You may have noticed that during the 11am Sunday Mass, our Elect and Candidates are dismissed from our assembly after the Homily for a time of prayerful discussion and faith sharing on the Gospel of the day. This is part of their preparation process in addition to their instruction every Tuesday evening. Their enthusiasm and desire for the Sacraments and for the life of the Church may well be an encouragement to the whole parish community to reflect more deeply on the richness we already have in our Catholic Faith especially in receiving Holy Communion. This weekend, Girl Scouts will be on hand to take your donations after all Masses. The food truck will be arriving to collect the first wave of donations this Monday, but nonperishable food items can be returned to the back of church now through April 7. Please help us to end hunger in Minnesota by supporting our local food shelf. With your help, we can partner to answer God s call to help those in need! Spring Anointing Mass - April 13 Please join us for our spring Anointing Mass on Friday, April 13 at 11am with lunch to follow. All are welcome! Contact the parish office at (651) or info@nativity-mn.org to reserve your seat at lunch by Tuesday, April 10. Pyx Return Please return to the sacristy any unused parish pyxes for home Communion distribution. Also, If you are bringing Communion to someone, please call the front desk if the recipients would like any further sacramental care. Ingrid Wirtz signs the Book of the Elect while her brother Luke and their mother Taunya look on. Brooklyn Clements and her mother Julie and her brother Dalton are in the background. (Photos by Richard L. Graner) Please remember to pray for these thirteen Elect and Candidates (also pictured on the front cover) as they enter into deeper conversion to Christ and His Church during this Lenten Season.
