Jericho March - April 3 9, 3pm During Lent, the Jericho March around Planned Parenthood sponsored by Pro-Life Action Ministries will begin April 3 by marching around the Planned Parenthood on Vandalia in silence once a day for six days. On the seventh day, we will march six times in silence and on the seventh time making a lot of noise! We pray that hardened hearts will crumble because of our witness and our prayers to God for an end to abortion. If you have questions, please contact us by or call (651) The Jericho March is part of our Lenten 40 Days for Life. Annual Good Friday Prayer Vigil - April 14 Join us on Good Friday as we remember the unborn victims of abortion while meditating on the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ. Pastors of various denominations will lead us in Scripture and prayer. There is no protesting or signs, just solemn prayer from 8:30am-4pm. Area pastors of various denominations will lead those gathered in the reading of Scriptures and prayers throughout the day. Sacred Music Choir Anthems - April 2-5th Sunday of Lent 1. First Friday Fellowship - Friday, April 7, 8:45-9:45 All are welcome to join us this Friday in Steiner Hall for coffee, doughnuts, and camaraderie! 2017 Spirit of Mary Award - Nominations due April 19 The Nativity Council of Catholic Women will again present our Spirit of Mary Award at the Madonna Dinner on Wednesday, May 3. Each year the NCCW recognizes an outstanding young woman who has demonstrated acts of faith, humility, generosity, and kindness through her school, parish, and community involvement. Female parishioners who are currently seniors in high school may apply or may be nominated. The award is a cash prize of $500, with $100 designated to the recipient s charity of choice and the remaining $400 for her ongoing educational pursuits. Nominations are due by Wednesday, April 19, and forms are available in the back of the church, at the School and parish offices, and at NativityWomen.org. The nominees and winner will be recognized at the Madonna Dinner on Wednesday, May 3. For more information, please contact Susan Neuville at (651) or susan.neuville@gmail.com. Funeral Lunch Chair Needed The NCCW funeral lunch committee is seeking a new chairwoman. This ministry has been an important part of parish life for many, many years, and special thanks goes to Joan Barry for her ten-year service in the role. Responsibilities include helping families plan the funeral lunch, overseeing the linen supply, and communicating with the linen service as well as volunteers. Please contact Emily Thurman if interested at (612) or erthurman@yahoo.com. Bread for New Life Are you expecting or adopting a baby or know someone who is? The Nativity Council of Catholic Women (NCCW) sponsors an ongoing Bread for New Life Ministry that coordinates meals for families who are welcoming a new child. Families are able to set meal preferences, times of day, and frequency of the deliveries. Friends, parishioners, or school members can then sign up to bring a meal or donate a restaurant gift card. All meals are coordinated by Bread For New Life Chair Carolyn Wollan through the Meal Train website. If you know of someone who would benefit from this ministry or have additional questions, please contact Carolyn Wollan at cswollan@aol.com.

Isaac Huss, Communications Manager and Bulletin Editor From The Hip Dear Parishioners and Friends, I am pleased to share the news that Principal Kate Wollan (pictured) is this year's recipient of the K-8 Leader of the Year Award bestowed by Minnesota Independent School Forum (MISF). MISF is an important organization that connects and convenes independent and private schools across Minnesota through a membership with a variety of programs, services, and resources. The award is given to a principal or president of a non-public school in Minnesota who fosters passion, brings innovative ideas forward and to fruition, and is regarded as demonstrating highest integrity. As we at Nativity know, Miss Wollan leads with love, faith, integrity, respect, and laughter inspiring Nativity students and teachers to be the best versions of themselves and nurturing a love of life-long learning. Her 30 years of service and leadership for Nativity School are a testament to her dedication and generous heart. Please join me in congratulating Miss Wollan on this welldeserved award! Nativity School s Lenten Journey Since Ash Wednesday, Nativity School students have been participating in a Lenten journey of prayer, reflection, and service. This week, students in second through eighth grade will have the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and all students participated in the Stations of the Cross twice this Lent. The students also will be participating in charitable projects, including: Last Saturday, Nativity parish hosted a Family Service morning in the School Cafeteria (pictured at right and on the bulletin cover). Several organizations hosted work stations with an array of different service projects. The event drew students, parents, and grandparents! Last week, the girl scouts ran a school food drive while coordinating efforts with our parish community for a parish -wide food drive to help Keystone, our neighborhood food shelf. Thanks to parishioners and students alike for this successful collection for those in need. Finally, all students were invited to participate in the Fill the Ark coin collection for Heifer International, a charity organization working to end hunger and poverty around the world by providing livestock and training to struggling communities. May God bless your week. -Fr. Patrick
