3 To all my sons and daughters in Christ! You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13) (1) I will give them all the graces necessary in their state of life. (2) I will establish peace in their homes. (3) I will comfort them in all their afflictions. (11) Those who shall promote this devotion shall have their names written in my Heart. (12) I promise you in the excessive mercy of my Heart that my all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on the First Fridays in nine consecutive months the grace of final perseverance; they shall not die in my disgrace, nor without receiving their sacraments. My divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment. These are the twelve promises Jesus conveyed to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque when He appeared to her in her convent at Paray-le-Monial in I highlight the 9 th promise as this is the core of our Summer of the Sacred Heart to Enthrone an image of the Sacred Heart in our homes. Also, I highlight the 12 th promise as on the First Friday of the month, you can make devotion at Mass or during the time of Adoration that day. Most Sacred Heart, have mercy on us! Fr. 5 LIVING WITH THE SAINTS St. Benedict is believed to have been born around 480, as the son to a Roman noble of Norcia and the twin to his sister, Scholastica. In the fifth century, the young Benedict was sent to Rome to finish his education with a nurse/ housekeeper. His main study was rhetoric - the art of persuasive speaking. A successful speaker was not one who had the best argument or conveyed the truth, but one who use rhythm, eloquence, and technique to convince. The power of the voice with foundation in the heart was the goal of the student s education. And that philosophy was reflected in the lives of the students as well. They had everything: education, wealth, youth, and they spent all of it in the pursuit of pleasure, not truth. Benedict watched in horror as vice unraveled the lives and ethics of his companions. In Monte Cassino, he founded the monastery that became the roots of the Church s monastic system. His own sister, Saint Scholastica, settled nearby to live a religious life. Benedict was an innovator. No one had every set up communities like his before or directed them with a rule. What is part of history to us now was a bold, risky step into the future. Care of the Sick - Communion will be brought to the homebound and the sick who are confined to their homes each week. For new additions to the Communion List, please call the Parish Office by Wednesday noon. Sacrament of the Sick - Will be administered to all of those seriously ill, those about to have major surgery, and any of the elderly of the Parish requesting it. Call the Parish Office to arrange. Parish Registration - New parishioners are welcome and are asked to register at the Parish Office, or download the form on our website to complete. Reconciliation - Confessions are heard every Saturday from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., thirty minutes prior to each Mass on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and Sunday. 7 PRAYER FOR FAMILIES Heavenly Father, you have given us the model of life in the Holy Family of Nazareth. Help us, O Loving Father, to make our family another Nazareth where love, peace and joy reign. May it be deeply contemplative, intensely Eucharistic, revived with joy. Help us to stay together in joy and sorrow in family prayer. Teach us to see Jesus in the members of our families, especially in the distressing disguise. May the Eucharistic heart of Jesus make our hearts humble like his and help us to carry our family duties in a holy way. May we love one another as God loves each one of us, more and more each day, and forgive each other s faults as you forgive our sins. Help us, O Loving Father, to take whatever you give and give whatever you take with a big smile. Immaculate Heart of Mary, cause of our joy, pray for us. St. Joseph, pray for us.
