This past weekend we re-commenced our second collections. It is such a joy to welcome all to our beautiful new church and we need the assistance of all to retire the debt incurred for its construction. You may remember that last summer we raised monies for new stained glass windows. We were completely successful in that work raising money for the windows and raising significant funds to help with the debt. The new windows are currently being worked on. We don t have a date yet for completion but we will have four new stained glass windows of: Saint Agnes, Saint Teresa of Calcutta, Saint John Paul II and Saints Paul & Barbara. Thanks for all for your great generosity and many peaceful wishes at the start of the summer season. I love you all like Jesus! Fr. JOHN BREBEUF CHILDREN S CHOIR VISITING SAINT CECILIA ON JUNE 10 Next weekend on Sunday, June 10, we welcome the Children s Choir from St. John Brebeuf, Niles, Illinois, as they will sing at our 10:30 a.m. Mass. The choir is under the direction of Ms. Ewa Fair, and consists of students in grades 3-8. They recently sang at the American Federation Pueri Cantores Choral Festival at Holy Name Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Chicago, regularly sings for monthly Mass at their home parish, as well as special events and festivals throughout the year. We look forward to hearing these young, beautiful voices at Saint Cecilia! FOOD PANTRY ITEMS NEEDED The following items are needed to help stock our food pantry: crackers, Kleenex, juice, gravy, pancake mix, syrup, laundry detergent, kids cereal, cereal bars, canned fruit, Tuna and Hamburger Helper, canned meat and fish, ketchup, mustard, mayo, soup (no tomato), canned spaghetti, pudding, Jell-O, toilet paper, diapers (sizes 1-6) and baby wipes. SACRAMENTAL CELEBRATIONS Baptism - Contact the Parish Office to make arrangements. A class may be required prior to baptism. Sacrament of Matrimony - Arrangements must be made with the Parish Priest six (6) months prior to anticipated date of wedding. Care of the Sick - Communion will be brought to the homebound and the sick who are confined to their homes each week. For new additions to the Communion List, please call the Parish Office by Wednesday noon. Sacrament of the Sick - Will be administered to all of those seriously ill, those about to have major surgery, and any of the elderly of the Parish requesting it. Call the Parish Office to arrange. Parish Registration - New parishioners are welcome and are asked to register at the Parish Office, or download the form on our website to complete. Reconciliation - Confessions are heard every Saturday from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., thirty minutes prior to each Mass on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and Sunday. As we celebrate the Body and Blood of Christ, let us be brought to the solemnity, once again, of Jesus self-giving on the cross and to continue selfgiving in the Eucharist and challenge ourselves to take on J esus mission of self -giving. The Eucharist is the centerpiece of our Vicentian lives, challenging us; our identity is our mission - self-giving. Both St. Vincent de Paul and Blessed Frederic Ozanam discovered what the Church teaches today; the Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life; it augmented their union with Jesus, strengthened their charity and committed them to the poor. 6 WHAT HAPPENS AFTER CONFIRMATION? The Fruits of the Spirit The fruits of the Spirit are perfections that the Holy Spirit forms in us as the first fruits of eternal glory. Catechism #1832 What the Spirit brings is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trustfulness, gentleness and self-control.since the Spirit is our life, let us be directed by the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-25 LOVE I am quick to send the needs of my friends, people with whom I work, and family. JOY I can celebrate life even in the midst of pain and confusion because of deep, spiritual reservoirs. PEACE I have a quiet, inner confidence in God s care of my life that keeps me from feeling uptight and anxious. PATIENCE (endurance) I have a staying power that helps me to handle frustration and conflict without blowing my stack. KINDNESS I act toward others as I want them to act toward me warm, considerate, trying to see the best in others. GOODNESS I have a real desire to live a clean life, to set a good example by my conduct wherever I am. FAITHFULNESS I stick to my word; I stand up for my friends; I can be counted on to stay firm in my commitments. HUMILITY I have an inner strength that permits me to be gentle in my relationships, and aware of my own abilities. SELF-CONTROL I am learning to discipline my time, energy and desires to reflect my spiritual values and priorities.
