3 To all my sons and daughters in Christ, I hope you are reading this after you have already been awestruck by the beauty of our new church. Take your time to take it all in as we have designed it to be beautiful from all angles. Be assured that in future columns, I will describe particular parts of the church. Many thanks to all those who made the Dedication Mass such a tremendous event. There simply isn t enough space to list them all but quite literally hundreds of people worked hard to make the Mass, the music, the party, the food, the fireworks all come to life. I was overwhelmed at the number of people who came to the Dedication Mass. Thanks to everyone for your piety, your reverence, your kindness and respect in dealing with the unbelievable numbers. Special thanks to all parishioners of Saint Cecilia s! It can be difficult to have standing room only in your own church. I was so impressed at the people, most of whom were parish members, who got out of the pew so an older or infirm person could have a seat. Thank you for your generosity. What party! It is the essence of the Christian Faith to welcome the visitor and the stranger. We did that with a great heart. I saw so many smiles and laughs and happy faces as we ate and drank and spoke with old friends and new. The fireworks were amazing and created a truly special finish to the evening. This is the beginning of something truly great in our parish. Yes, there are kinks to work out, especially with the sound system. Know that we are working hard to get everything smoothed out. Please bear with us and pray much for us! Welcome to the new House of God and new home for the Catholics who live in and visit the Dells! I love you all like Jesus! Fr. Eric CONTRIBUTE You can now access giving to Saint Cecilia with our QR Code. Simply use your app reader on your phone and you will obtain the information you need to make a contribution! EASY! Ihm informed me that I would be returning to St. Cecilia s for a second summer assignment. Having the same assignment twice during one s time in seminary formation is rare in our diocese and I was grateful for the opportunity to return to the Dells and share this historical summer with you. Although summer flew by, it was a blessing to see you all again and catch up after a year. What a gift it was to come back to many familiar faces and experience the continued anticipation of the new church as its completion approached. I spent a good amount of my summer working on preparations and the rite for the big day, in addition to some liturgical preparations for the parish as a whole moving forward. It is my prayer that these will continue to bear much fruit as you grow and deepen your love for the Mass, which is the source and summit of our faith. A church is a sacramental sign of the presence of the church in a particular community. By this new church, you have manifest to all who visit the Dells the importance of your Catholic faith and the need for a beautiful place to worship the God of the Universe. It has been truly inspiring to be apart of this journey with you all. Thank you for your generosity and commitment to building a sacred space that will allow all who visit an experience of true beauty and draw them deeper into prayer. As Father Eric mentioned though, this is not the end, but only the beginning. These physical manifestations are instruments that are used to deepen our prayer life, experience of grace, and union with God. May God use these instruments to draw you closer to Him and inspire you to seek Him even more each day. I am excited to see what God has in store for St. Cecilia s Parish in the coming months. I encourage you to take some time each week to thank Him for all he has done for this parish, while also asking him to reveal to you how he is calling you to take up your cross daily and conform your life to his. He desires that we all become saints; have the courage to say YES! to the ways he is calling you each day. Not tomorrow, not later, but NOW! Speak LORD, your servant is listening. Again, thank you all so very much for your friendship and generosity this summer. St. Cecilia s has truly been a wonderful experience on my vocational journey and I am deeply grateful to know each and every one of you. Know of my constant thoughts and prayers for all of you and I look forward to seeing you again in the future! Save the Date: June 30 th, 2016 Priestly Ordination in Madison next summer. God Love You and I Love You! 11 Spanish Mass - 6:30 p.m. In Christo per Mariam, Andrew J. Showers
