3 To all my sons and daughters in Christ! Resurrexit sicut dixit! Surrexit vere! He has risen as He said! He is truly risen! It is difficult to express the joy that I have felt over these past holy days and all during the great Octave of Easter! The great liturgies of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday were deeply prayerful experiences. Truly this church was the house of God and gate of Heaven. We sang the praises of God will full hearts and voices and were aided by the good work of so many. Indeed, I must express my heartfelt thanks to many people: The Staff of Saint Cecilia Parish: Dave Kordell, Terri Donnelly, Laurie Grill, Brad Koenig and Kelly Koenig, who worked so diligently to make preparations. The Altar Servers thorough the Triduum: Alan Anderson, Vinnie Bellock, Ostap Kavyuk, David and Ziggy Jarog. All those who helped with flowers and decoration: Mary Leary, Rose Bavlnka, Michael Bavlnka, Rose Bingham, Karen Baggot and Teri Roter and her daughter. The many good and faithful ministers who served as Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Ushers, Greeters and those in Hospitality ministry. They all served to make this church a welcoming place to observe the holy days. Of course, great thanks goes to our Parish s Director of Music, Tracey Tolzmann, and all the members of the Choir who gave so much time, effort, skill and love to lead us in beautiful and sacred music throughout these days. My thanks for all of you who help in ways big and small, who offer your sacrifices of praise in this church building and serve to make Saint Cecilia Parish a wonderful place to pray and to worship the living God. Do pay attention to the pages of this bulletin this week and in coming weeks for many exciting things coming to our parish. I love you all like Jesus! Fr. Eric formed.org Password: MB7WQG Renowned speaker and author Fr. Michael Gaitley tells the dramatic history of God s love and mercy as interwoven through the transformative message of St. Faustina, the miraculous appearance of Mary at Fatima, the witness of Maximilian Kolbe, and the world-changing papacy of Pope St. John Paul II. Featuring the brilliant cinematic artistry of the Augustine Institute s film studio, the vast panorama of God s work of mercy in the world unfolds as a story to be experienced.
4 PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY MEETING Tuesday, April 10 2:00 p.m. Parish Center Council Chambers Join us! FOOD PANTRY ITEMS NEEDED The following items are needed to help stock our food pantry: crackers, Kleenex, juice, gravy, pancake mix, syrup, laundry detergent, kids cereal, cereal bars, canned fruit, Tuna and Hamburger Helper, canned meat and fish, ketchup, mustard, mayo, soup (no tomato), canned spaghetti, pudding, Jell-O, toilet paper, diapers (sizes 1-6) and baby wipes. Thank you! Question of the week: Whom can I forgive who has hurt me or someone I love? Can I put my trust in God, the author of all mercy? Can I believe that by forgiving my neighbor I am allowing the Spirit to work through me and am participating in the gift of the divine mercy? In the Gospel today, Jesus stands in the midst of us and says: Peace be with you! During Mass, we turn to each other and say Peace be with you! When you make a donation to the Society, you say Peace be with you to those in need. When members of the Society make a home visit to a friend in need, we are assured that the Peace of the Holy Spirit will greet us. St. Teresa of Calcutta once said about the poor Each one of them is Jesus in disguise. Call to learn how you can help us to help others. Do not give into discouragement and do not lose hope...the Father of mercies is ready to give you his forgiveness and peace in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Using regular rosary beads, work your way around the five decades with the prayers below: On the stand alone beads, pray: Eternal Father, I offer you the body, blood, soul, and divinity of your dearly beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. On the decade beads, pray: For the sake of his sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. At the end, pray the following three times: Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world. It is typical to conclude the Divine Mercy Chaplet with the worlds: Jesus, I trust in you. EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP What do you own and what owns you? How about trying to live simply in a complex world? Has a mountain of stuff invaded your home garage to the point where parking a car inside is only a dream? The early Church practiced a radical form of fellowship call koinonia, which literally means sharing in common. Those who had homes and other major possessions would sell them and then place the proceeds in the care of the Apostles to be shared with the entire community. Why do such a thing? One could say it was so that no one wanted for anything. It was freely given. And perhaps the reason why people were moved to do lies at the heart of stewardship: because all we have already belongs to God. SAINT CECILIA SCHOLARSHIPS COLLECTION Next weekend, April 14/15, our Parish will be taking a second collection for scholarship monies to be awarded to graduating high school seniors who will be furthering their education at the college level. Please give generously. CALVARY CEMETERY REMINDERS As Spring is upon us, a few reminders for honoring our loved ones at Calvary Cemetery: Candles and glass jars are NOT permitted. Only one solar light per burial site is allowed. Flowers may be placed in urns or hanging baskets adjacent to the headstone. Flowers, trees or ground plantings are NOT permitted. NO rocks, gravel or knick knacks may be placed on grave sites. Cemetery staff will remove all decorations that do not comply with the rules. Any questions can be addressed by contacting the Parish Office. Thank you! 1240 AM

August 6-10 Cost: 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. $25.00 per student BIBLE STUDY THE GOSPEL OF JOHN STARTS THIS WEEK APRIL 9 2:00 OR 6:30 P.M Because all Gospels are foundational to our Catholic Faith, it really is essential for Catholics to study Scripture in depth and in a way that reveals its relationship to liturgy, evangelization, theology, and personal and daily life. This study responds to that by providing accessible yet significant commentary on John s Gospel drawn from the best of contemporary biblical scholarship as well as the rich treasury of the Church s tradition. Like the loaves and fishes multiplied by Jesus, the Gospel of John provides an great abundance of spiritual teaching, education, and challenges to all its readers, whether beginners or experienced. Discover what God has revealed and is still speaking to us through the Gospel. COST: $25.00 REGISTER WITH DAVE KORDELL at (608) or dkordell@dellscatholic.com This CD draws from Scripture, the teachings of the Church, and the diary of St. Faustina to reveal the heart of Divine Mercy. Through these 7 secrets, you are offered an invitation to experience the transforming power of Divine Mercy. Understand this powerful devotion like never before and discover how to respond to Pope Francis call to live lives shaped by mercy.
