CHRISM MASS Thursday, March 22nd 2:00PM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church Bishop Ochoa blesses the Holy Oils that are used throughout all of the parishes in the Diocese of Fresno at a special liturgy known as the Chrism Mass. The oil of chrism is used during baptisms, confirmation, ordination and the consecration of altars. The oil of catechumens is used at the Easter Vigil. The oil of the sick is used to anoint people during the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. Please join us for daily Mass, Stations of the Cross and Friday s dinners during Lent. Rite of Election St. Anthony of Padua RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CLASSES STATUE DEDICATION Sunday, February 25, 2018 Parents of children making their First Holy Communion on April 21, 2018: There will be a parent meeting in the Hall March during your child s class time. This meeting will begin at 4:05PM and will provide information on dress code, pictures and details regarding your child s First Holy Communion.. VOLUNTEERS-CHILDREN S LITURGY OF THE WORD Starting in June, we would like to offer Children s Liturgy every weekend. We currently only have 7 volunteers who are doing an amazing job. Obviously, we will need more volunteers if we are having a class each Sunday. Teaching the class involves 20 minutes of your time and there is almost no preparation. Everything is provided for you. Please consider volunteering & call the Religious Education Office for all the details at

RECOMMENDED PRECAUTIONS TODAY If children have flu-like symptoms, they should be encouraged to see their doctor, to stay home and avoid public gathering places. People who have the flu can be contagious and can spread flu to others (especially through hand contact, coughing or sneezing) from one day before symptoms occur, to 5-7 days after the symptoms begin. Newly released government statistics show that influenza is especially dangerous to children and older adults. Even though the flu vaccine this year is not as effective as it could be, it is still important that people be vaccinated. Everyone is encouraged to get a flu shot, if you have not already done so. DIRECTIVES IN CASE OF DECLARED EMERGENCY PARISHIONERS ARE ENCOURAGED: not to hold hands during the reciting of the Our Father. Share the Sign of Peace without touching hands or kissing. This can be done with meaningful eye contact, smiles, and a bow of the head in reverence to one another. Receive Communion in your hands, and not on the tongue. The Parish Office will then contact you. You then have an opportunity to pray for an increase in vocations in the Diocese of Fresno. The Chalice is picked up at the end of Mass and brought back to the same Mass the following week. We are currently asking parishioners to take home the chalice at the Mass and intend on offering this unique opportunity to those at the other Mass times in due course. Temporarily, the cup is not shared during Mass and Communion is only given in the species of the consecrated bread. However, arrangements can always be made for parishioners with Celiac disease, who can only receive Communion from the cup, by notifying the Church in advance. Priests, deacons, and extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion are reminded to practice good hygiene.
