Jesus wants to set the world on ire. Our world is on ire indeed. You don t have to look far to see people on ire. Take a look at the high school or college football ield any Friday or Saturday night. Those people are on ire! They get it. They re crammed together, painting their faces and bodies, screaming their faces off. They know the cheers and the school song. They re obsessed. Being set on ire is kind of like an obsession. It s like young love; an intense crush. When you re newly in love, you think about that person all the time. It feels good. You want to talk to them all the time. You want to spend time with them. Jesus wants us to be obsessed with Him. He wants to be the exclusive object of our fascination. I, the Lord, your God, am a jealous God (Exodus 20:5). He will even separate us from family if they will tear us away from Him. Fire is intensely, painfully hot. It is anything but lukewarm. To be on ire for Jesus is a very deliberate thing. It is the opposite of Denny s. No one ever plans to go to Denny s; you kind of just wind up there. No one ever just winds up a disciple of Jesus Christ. It takes deliberate thought, decision, and action. It is intentional. Are you an intentional disciple of Jesus? Or, are you just kind of showing up? Are you on ire for Jesus? Or, are you keeping a safe distance, half of yourself slightly warmed, half cold? It s almost time for our Fall Kick-Off for Edge, Life Teen and High School Confirmation! We will meet for our first session of the year on Sunday, August 28 immediately following the 1130 am Life Teen Mass, from pm. Edge will meet in rooms 3 and 4; all 7th and 8th graders are invited to join us PARENTS, you may register on the spot.
