3 MSGR. MCCORMICK NEEDS YOUR HELP In January, Msgr. McCormick will be joining his Jamaica Mission team on a week-long mission & is in need of a sponsor(s) to cover the costs of his trip. The total cost is $1, & is tax deductible. During the trip, they will be building at least 1 or 2 2-bedroom houses, doing necessary repairs & upgrades at Holy Spirit Church, the Community Center where they stay, as well as surrounding area schools, churches and homes. They will also help in the medical clinic & visit the Missionaries of Charity s home for the destitute and elderly. Time allowing, they will do some English & math tutoring with children & adults & visit with local people in the bush. There are still a few spots available on this mission team. You can join Msgr. McCormick for the experience of a lifetime! No special skills required, and all ages and skill levels are welcome. SECOND COLLECTION Today is the Peter s Pence Collection, a worldwide collection that supports the charitable works of Pope Francis. Funds from this collection help victims of war, oppression, and natural disasters. Take this opportunity to join with Pope Francis and be a witness of charity to our suffering brothers and sisters. Please be generous today. For more information, visit VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED to help the Funeral Reception Committee by providing salads or desserts on days of funerals here at our parish. Bereaved families sometimes ask for assistance when a funeral reception is held in Logan Hall and our list of volunteers has dwindled. Please consider helping with this very important ministry. You may only be asked to help two or three times per year if there are enough volunteers. This month s activity is a wonderful lesson to keep them growing in their faith. We ll have all the supplies. Just come on by! There will be refreshments and feel free to bring some to share. PARISH OUTREACH UPDATE St. Martha s Pantry was established by OLPH in 2003 to serve the Clovis community and surrounding area by providing food to the hungry. Families can qualify for one distribu on per month, which provides a variety of staples designed to meet their basic needs for about one week. They also provide special packages for emergencies and for the homeless, as well as delivery of food to migrant worker families in rural communi es. In June 2018, 238 families totaling 633 people were served by the dedicated volunteers of St. Martha s Pantry, which is highly organized and well-managed. St. Martha s Feast Day is July 29 and aptly she is the patron saint of homemakers, servants and cooks. Through the generous support of Holy Spirit Parishioners, your Outreach Commi ee has directed dona ons totaling $13,000 to this worthy organiza on over the past 12 months. Thank you for your ongoing assistance and please con nue to pray for our neighbors in need.

4 YOUTH MINISTRY Registration is NOW OPEN for high school Confirmation formation for You may download the registration packet from our website or pick up a hard copy in the parish office. Our annual parent meeting will be on August 12 following the 12 pm Mass. Formation will begin on August 26. Our Tweens and Teens Need YOU! As we begin to prepare for the formation year, we are in great need of volunteers to work with our Edge (grades 7-8) and Life Teen (grades 9-12) ministries. This is a very fulfilling ministry where you ll find that you ll receive twice as much as you give. Our young people are searching for TRUTH in a world full of lies and relativism. Please pray about whether or not God might be calling YOU to this ministry. Our young people need you.
