2 FROM THE PASTOR S DESK Last Saturday Bishop Malooly ordained eight deacons for service throughout the Diocese of Wilmington. Three of those eight men come from Holy Family: David Feaster - Assigned to St. Joseph s in Middletown Darrell Lashomb - Assigned to Holy Family and Joseph Roach - Assigned to Holy Family We congratulate David, Darrell, and Joe, and offer them our prayers for years of fruitful and fulfilling ministry in the Diocese of Wilmington. Our three new deacons will be available to receive your good wishes and congratulations in the parish hall immediately after all the Masses on this weekend - August 26/27. We are really looking forward to another amazing year with all our families new and old(er)! We have great things planned for our RE families and friends. Check out the calendar on our website to see what is happening! \ Did you know Holy Family has a Sunday RE Program for Pre-school and Kindergartners? This is a great way to get your child ready for school as well as start their faith formation! We meet 3 time a month 10-11am. The 2 nd week of the month we join our parish for the Children s Liturgy of the Word. This is a wonderful experience that you don t want to miss! Confirmation 2017 Our next gathering will be at the Retreat at Northbay Adventure Park on September 8-10, An informative and letter has been sent to all candidates this week. 4 Parish News and Happenings Thank you to the St. Michael s Council of the Knights of Columbus for a very successful Golf Outing on August 18. It is to be awarded to a boy or girl from HOLY FAMILY Parish in a Catholic elementary or High School who, due to unforeseen circumstances, would otherwise have to discontinue attending the valuable education that only is available in a Catholic Schools. Saint Michael - Knights of Columbus Council 4548 St. Michael Council #4548 proudly congratulates SK Wayne Wilberding, who our council recently voted "Knight of the Year" for his many hours of devotion to Holy Family parish. Chef Wayne shares his culinary expertise at Summerfest and our Lenten Fish Fry events. Wayne also serves on the Holy Family Pastoral Council and participates in the liturgy regularly as a Lector and a Sacristan. We would also like to congratulate our "Family of the Year" SK Ray Bodnar & his wife, Maureen. Together they've logged many volunteer hours at the Little Sisters of the Poor, Jeanne Jugan Residence. As a team, Ray & Maureen also head up cooking and serving dinner a few times a year at the local Ronald McDonald House in Wilmington. Their volunteer work at RMH began over 25 years ago. Ray, who often ushers at mass, also collects pop top tabs from aluminum cans as a means of fundraising for RMH. If you would like to help Ronald McDonald House, save your clean pop top tabs in a bag or container and give them to any of our Knights. We'll pass them on to Ray. Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to all men 18 years of age or older who are practical (that is, practicing) Catholics in union with the Holy See. We welcome diversity. If you are a student in need of service hours, consider becoming an altar server. Altar servers are scheduled according to Mass preference and can block out dates for vacation time. You can easily earn service hours per year by serving at Mass 2-3 times per month. If you re looking for a way to more fully connect with the liturgy, consider becoming a Sacristan. Sacristans are ministers who make sure the church is ready to celebrate Mass.
