2 FROM OUR PASTOR: FATHER MARK KELLEHER It is true that when God closes a door He opens a window. From its beginning Holy Family had been fortunate to have a group of religious sisters, the Felicians, living next door. It was rather sad to say good-bye to them a couple of years ago after so many years. That was the door that closed. But now, God has opened a window! At about the same time that the Felician Sisters were leaving, the Benedictine Sisters of St. Gertrude Monastery in Ridgely Maryland sold their monastery and were looking for a new site to build a new monastery in New Castle County. They approached Holy Family to see if we would be interested in making available to them, through a long-term lease, the 3.5 acres of property behind the rectory and the Religious Education Center to build their new monastery. I approached the bishop for his permission, and received positive feedback from both the Parish Pastoral Council and the Parish Finance Council. The lease will be signed in the next couple of weeks giving the Sisters access to the property to move forward. Their plan is to build an 18,000 square foot monastery that will accommodate 20 to 25 sisters. Holy Family will once again have a group of religious sisters for neighbors. And not only neighbors, but also active parishioners of Holy Family. Some of the sisters are still involved in active ministry and are very much looking forward to offering their time and talent to the ministries here at Holy Family. Vacation Bible School Cave Quest is coming to Holy Family!!!! June th VBS is open to all children from age 3 (Potty Trained) through 6 th Grade. New this year: 6 th graders will have a new role! They will be Jr. Crew Leader Trainees who learn the new role as junior crew leader, but enjoy all the benefits of a participant. Registration is available on-line. Donations are being accepted for VBS Scholarships and costs of the enormous VBS set and can be dropped off at the Parish or RE Offices anytime.
