2 FROM THE PASTOR S DESK An Opportunity to Memorialize a Loved One Through a generous donation we have been fortunate to acquire two beautiful portraits for our church The Divine Mercy and Our Lady of Guadalupe. I would like to continue the theme by hanging portraits of saints in the other spaces around our church. Any individual, family, or group who would like to donate a portrait in memory of a loved one is most welcome to do so. Between the painting and the framing the cost is around $ Payment can be made in full or in installments by the parish sending a monthly bill. A memorial plaque will be hung in the Gathering Space commemorating your donation. We have already received an anonymous donation of a portrait of St. Therese of Lisieux, and another donation for a portrait of St. Cecilia. We are selling $1 pairs of crazy socks! Buy them for yourselves, family and friends. Then, wear the socks on March 21 st Rock Your Socks Day in support of this amazing group of people! Socks will be available in the Gathering Space (after Sunday Mass) and RE Center starting week of March 5th! Religious Education BIG THANK YOU to all of those who supported us at the Bertucci s Fundraiser last week! Your proceeds will support our ministries throughout the remainder of this year (June 2018). Many of our families will benefit from your generosity. Thank you, thank you!! We will be SHIPWRECKED this year at Vacation Bible School June 18-22, 2018! Registration has opened!! 6 Parish News and Diocesan News Answer Bishop Malooly s Invitation to Walk His Way. Bishop Malooly invites youth and young adults from all parishes and schools to join him as we come together for the ninth annual Pilgrimage on Saturday, March 24, Young people from across the diocese will carry the diocesan pilgrimage cross through the streets of Wilmington with the Bishop as a representation of Jesus entry to Jerusalem and His journey on Good Friday to Calvary. The day begins at St. Elizabeth parish with opening prayer and a concert featuring Luke Spehar at 10:30 am. We conclude with the 5pm Mass at St. Elizabeth. Don t miss this great opportunity to wrap up your Lenten journey with hundreds of your peers. Cost for the day is $15 per person or $45 max per family (bring your own lunch). For more information, visit Registration deadline is March 15, The Shroud of Turin Exhibit will be at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 800 West Lea Blvd., Wilmington, from March 1 to March 13. All are invited to come and experience this moving and prayerful exhibit that includes the Authentic Vatican Replica that was commissioned and blessed by the Pope and was touched to the real Shroud of Turin. Exhibit hours are Monday through Friday 11 a.m. 5 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. 3 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Guides will be available during the exhibit to answer questions and a DVD presentation on the history and science of the Shroud may be viewed in the Church Hall during exhibit hours. The Knights of Columbus has many activities going on right now. Besides our Lenten Fish Fry Dinners, we are involved statewide events everywhere. Our 4 th Degree brothers in the Cardinal Gibbons Assembly #150 are running a fundraising drive called Socks for Soldiers. This program raises money to provide military grade socks for our deployed men and women. Yes, socks are issued by the US military but they quickly wear out due to sand grinding inside the boots. St. Michael Council has been collecting aluminum can tabs for the Ronald McDonald house in Wilmington. Please save the tabs from your aluminum beverage cans to benefit the Ronald McDonald House. This is an easy was to make a contribution to a worthy cause. Just place them in a ziplock bag give them to any Knight. Our Fish Fry Dinners resume this Friday March 2 nd, also March 9 th & 16 th. You can purchase tickets in advance before and after each mass in the gathering space or at the door. Next meeting Monday, February 26, at 7:00pm preceded by the Holy Rosary at 6:40pm. The one-hour performance is staged at 7:30 pm at St. Anthony s Church, 905 North DuPont Street in Wilmington. Performances are Friday, March 2, Friday, March 9, Friday, March 16, Friday, March 23 and ending on Good Friday, March 30. There is no admission charge for the Via Crucis, although a free-will donation is welcomed. Groups over 10 can call St. Anthony s Rectory, , for reservations.
