Dear St. John Paul II Parishioners, In the past I have had the opportunity to write a bulle,n le-er during the month of November. I find wri,ng bulle,n le-ers a li-le difficult at,mes. However, with Thanksgiving falling during the month of November, and this being the,me we tend to reflect on the things we are grateful for and a,me for giving thanks, I do find wri,ng on this topic to be a li-le easier. Taking,me for gra,tude for the good things in our lives, past and present, is one way of making sure we are fully living in the moment. In this moment I would like to share with you some of the things I am thankful for: The opportunity to con,nue to lead a group of some of the most loving, caring and selfless people I have ever met. Our programs at St. John Paul II Preschool and Child Care provide service for 110 preschool age children and 51 school age children at the present,me. The dedicated staff strives to meet the needs of all the children we are blessed to have in our programs. For the staff and the families we serve, I am thankful. I had a total knee replacement last year in October and a$er a year of healing, I am doing remarkably well. I am thankful for the doctors and physical therapists who were responsible for helping to make my surgery and recovery a great success. During Mass a couple of weeks ago Fr. Tom distributed the new St. John Paul II Ministry Booklet outlining all the commissions and organiza,ons we have in our parish and all the ways parish members can sign up to serve. I feel blessed to be a member of St. John Paul II Parish with the opportunity to serve on some of these commissions. With this opportunity I am able to grow in my faith and deepen my rela,onship with God. I am thankful for my family, who loves me uncondi,onally every day. In March of 2018 my daughter Karyn and her husband Tony will welcome a new li-le baby boy into our family. We are all excited and blessed beyond measure. I hope this le-er reminds you too, to be thankful, count your blessings, and live in the moment! I want to share with you a picture of the newest addi,on to my family. His name is Reggie and he is a Mini Bernedoodle. He joined us about six weeks ago and I am very thankful that my other two boys, Kobe and Louie, have accepted him as part of the family. He shared what he loves about his Catholic faith, helping us dig deeper into Vision Statement #4: People who know basic Catholic teaching. St. Mary of the Knobs Floyds Knobs, IN December 1st 6:30pm Welcome to St. John Paul II Catholic Church New Parishioners: Angela & John Colburn and their children Garet and Emilia 40 Days for Life ended Nov. 5th with a prayer vigil and par(cipa(on by pray-ers who faithfully prayed, stood vigil and made sacrifices around the clock for 40 days and nights. There were 7 babies saved at the clinic in Louisville. Seven precious lives, their Moms choosing life for their unborn baby. Imagine if you were one of the seven babies fortunate enough to know that people cared for you and your Mom so that you now may live your life as God planned for you... The Homeless Coalion of SoIN (HCSI) provides shelter, meals, and supporve services to individuals experiencing homelessness in Clark and Floyd counes. During its first season last year, the shelter served 126 individuals, was open for 40 nights, and had over 40 volunteers helping operate the shelter. What are we asking of you? Please consider joining a team to serve at the White Flag Emergency Shelter at least once a month from November 15 April 15. The shelter is open from 6:45pm 7:30am each night the temperature is at or below 35 degrees. There are 3 shi6s of volunteers needed each night. What is the next step? A piece of St. Paul Athlec History! The Athlec Commi:ee with some funding from the JPII Men s Club recently purchased 36 new sideline chairs with the St. John Paul II logo, mascot, and color scheme. Parishioners now have an opportunity to purchase the rered ACES chairs. The Athlec Commi:ee is expecng a high demand for the chairs, therefore a drawing will be conducted. Bringing Christmas to Campton, KY in Appalachia Our parish has helped make Christmas a li:le brighter in Campton, KY for the past 14 years. This season we are again collecng toys for children served through the mission run by the Providence Sisters at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. The Sisters are seeing a 50% increase this year in the number of families served from How can you help? Donaons of new, unwrapped toys for children ages newborn to 13 will be collected through November 22nd. You may bring items to either (SJH near front right altar; SP near St. Paul statue). 7 Sacraments & Sacramental Preparation Baptisms: Typically celebrated at weekend Masses. A Baptism Preparation Session is required for parents. The next session will be held after the 11:15am Mass Sunday, December 3, 2017 at the St. Paul.
