For more info, call Dolores at Dear St. John Paul II Parishioner, One never knows where inspiraon will be found. As I write this, I send greengs from Miramar Beach, FL. I want to share a li:le bit about an unexpected experience I was blessed to have there. I know many of you travel to the Desn, FL area and may be familiar with the Resurrecon Parish. My family holds this parish as our second parish or home away from home. We have visited it for many years, and enjoy Father Tom (and his Labrador Retriever Bridget that used to carry his song book for him). We have enjoyed seeing them make plans and add a new parish hall and office space. When I a:ended Friday morning Mass there I saw a poster for a Dynamic Catholic retreat the parish was hosng the next day. The Lord works in mysterious ways! Each me I receive an from Dynamic Catholic I eagerly look at the list of retreats, but have never found one being hosted close to our area that my calendar would allow me to a:end. So, I was so excited to see that this retreat was at my second home parish, while I was on vacaon and able to a:end! I have been inspired by many materials from Dynamic Catholic the book Resisng Happiness that all JPII parishioners read, the series Your Best Advent Ever and Your Best Lent Ever. This retreat did not disappoint! The retreat I a:ended was called Find Your Greatness: Four Habits That Will Transform Your Life. I will not a:empt to share in detail the message from the retreat. I could not do it jusce in this short le:er. I will list one thought for each habit discussed: Prayer: Commitment to daily prayer remembering to ask What does God want? Study: Know the will of God by studying him (Catholic books, CDs, etc.) Generosity: Jesus talked a lot about money. It s a spiritual issue. Your heart follows your money. Evangeliza<on: It is sharing your faith. It is one beggar telling another beggar where to find food. The retreat focused on those four habits and the fact that our lives change when our habits change. At JPII parish we are focusing on these areas. As the speaker, Dr. Allen Hunt, talked I was so proud to think of how our parish is promong these four areas, and how our parish vision statements speak directly to these areas. If you are not familiar with Dynamic Catholic, I encourage you to look into this organizaon. They are developing resources to re-energize the Catholic Church in the United States. With the help of their resources and each of us individually focusing on the areas of prayer, study, generosity and evangelizaon, we will connue to strengthen the Catholic Church today and for future generaons. This group will be using the Six Weeks with the Bible Series, "Jesus the Healer" from 10/14-11/18. If you are interested in joining, drop by. Not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. MaBhew 7:21 A5er the story of the good Samaritan, Jesus asked the rich man, Who was neighbor to the man? He replied, The one who treated him with mercy. And Jesus said, Now, you go and do the same. Growing in our relaeonship with God always requires using the gi5s God has given to us. The Stewardship Commission has an inteneonal plan to help us grow as disciples. Last Advent, we invited you to Go Beyond Sunday with stewardship of your Eme through 75 Ways to Grow Your Faith. In April, we focused on Stewardship of our Treasure as we looked at how we Go beyond Sunday with our treasure. In the next two weeks, the Stewardship Commission is invieng all parishioners to consider how they will use their talents for the good of our parish and larger community. Using our gi5s not only helps the parish but it helps us find fulfillment in our lives. Why? Because when we use the gi5s God has given us in the way that God has designed them uniquely for us, we grow in our relaeonship with God. What invitaeon to service is God punng on your heart at this Eme? How might you respond? The Community Kitchen in Jeffersonville is looking for help. High School Boys Basketball Team now forming. The New Albany Deanery hosts an intramural high school basketball league from Nov- Jan. 7 Sacraments & Sacramental Preparation Baptisms: Typically celebrated at weekend Masses. A Baptism Preparation Session is required for parents. The next session is December 2, 2018 immediately following the 11:15 Mass at the St. Paul. Confessions: Available Friday mornings at 11:15am at the St. Joe Hill and Saturdays at 4:15pm at the St. Paul. You may also contact Fr. Tom at to schedule an appointment. Marriage: Please contact Fr.
