Dry Beans & Instant Potatoes Welcome to St. John Paul II Catholic Church New Parishioners: Stephen and Chrisne Miller As our parish connues to grow, we strive to meet our parishioners where they are through the guidance of our Mission Statement:...growing disciples and making disciples. In order to accomplish this, we have several iniaves forthcoming, including a program to assist our young Church families and regular mely and relevant communicaons. Beginning in July, St. John Paul II will be iniang a new babysi5ng ministry. It has long been a goal of mine to offer babysi5ng at all parish events. Doing so will allow us to make more parish acvies open to parents of our young Church. We did this recently for our parish mission and because of it, we had people parcipate who otherwise may not have been able to a7end. More informaon about this ministry will be forthcoming. Later this summer we hope to begin a weekly update to all parishioners. This will highlight events of the weekend and the coming week in our parish. We hope this will help us keep in be7er communicaon with all of our parishioners at SJPII. In addion to these projects, we are working to be7er manage all around ministries for which the Parish administers. One such project is to improve recordkeeping in our cemetery. New soware is being assessed to ensure appropriate data are captured and secured. We are also coordinang our Office Angels responsibilies to make their job easier and allow them to connue being so helpful in the St. Joe Hill office. Some other acvies planned for the upcoming year include a new raffle that will take place in the spring of At that me we will be raffling a brand new car. This raffle will replace our big money raffle that we have had the last several years, with the proceeds going primarily toward our new Church. More informaon will follow this summer or early fall. With all of these new endeavors planned, our Bullen Editor, Joan Dilger will be increasing her work hours for the parish to manage these new projects. Beginning in August, Joan will begin working from the St. Joe Hill office. Contact and phone numbers for her will be published as these new ministries and funcons are implemented. 4 St. John Paul II Catholic Church Thank you! The St. Gianna Culture of Life Commission thanks you for the aluminum cans and your support over these past years! The cans greatly help with our projects. We collect cans at both campuses: St. Joe Hill by the gym (white wooden fenced box); St. Paul, between chapel and school behind picnic tables. In June, we donated $200 to the persecuted Chris(ans in the Middle East, (we have loaner DVDs, Faithkeepers and Obsession for anyone desiring to learn more about our persecuted Chris(an brothers and sisters). In May, we sold almost 1,000 roses on Mother s Day weekend with the proceeds going to Right to Life of So IN. A month earlier (April), we donated $100 for the Live Love Louisville event on the Great Lawn by the Walking Bridge. This event supported WaterStep in purchasing water systems for the poor. Our Commission supports other culture of life ac(vi(es throughout the year, e.g., dona(ons to the SOAP project (Save our Adolescence from Pros(tu(on), the signature campaign for the newspaper in conjunc(on with March for Life, and organizes people to pray at the abor(on clinic during the 40 Days for Life in the spring and fall. We appreciate all of you; consider this an invita(on to acend our bi-monthly mee(ngs, or you may help with a monthly sponsored project. Our next endeavor is the annual baby shower. Watch the bulle(n in July for informa(on on items to be collected. July Outreach Collec'on-Schoensta) Fathers The SchoenstaC Fathers are part of the Interna(onal SchoenstaC Movement, a renewal founded by Fr. Joseph Kentenich in1914 in Germany. Several religious and lay communi(es are part of the Movement with the SchoenstaC Fathers being the youngest members work on all con(nents. The Fathers task is to render priestly service to the movement and to build it up. The Indian SchoenstaC Fathers are now in a posi(on to develop several projects to realize their charism within the demands in India where Chris(ans account for only 3% of over a billion people. It is their task to bring the good news of Jesus to the mul(tude. Their approach is to reach out to the people by helping with their needs. The SchoenstaC Fathers promote voca(ons, develop centers of spiritual renewal and establish children s villages for deserted and neglected children. They also support a home for boys where they provide room, board and educa(on to poor children. In the past, our parish has hosted an annual Indian Dinner to raise awareness and funds for the SchoenstaC Fathers and their mission. This year we are suppor(ng the Fathers through the Outreach Collec(on in lieu of the dinner. Johnson Nellissery, at frjohnnell@gmail.com or Go Beyond Sunday: Stewardship of our Talents Spiritual Gis Course The Servant Song asks the ques(on, What do you want of me Lord? Where do you want me to serve you? It is a great ques(on perhaps it is THE ques(on each of us should be asking. The St. John Paul II Parish Stewardship Commission invites you to a program that can help you answer that ques(on. A Spiritual Gis Course will once again be offered in our parish beginning in August. It will be offered on four consecu(ve Thursday nights: August 23, 30, September 6, and 13. Mark your calendars now and watch the bulle(n for more informa(on. A new Small Group will begin this summer to support mothers of teens and beyond. We will be reading the book, Good Enough is Good Enough by Colleen Duggan. Save the date: The feast day of St. JPII, the Great Pope of Mercy will be celebrated on Sunday, October 21, The Mother of Mercy Messengers, associated with the Marians of Stockbridge, MA, will host a presenta(on on Divine Mercy. On Monday, October 22nd, the students at St. JPII School will follow-up with another program on this devo(on. Watch the bulle(n for further details. The Na(onal Conference for Cateche(cal Leadership (NCCL) Dis(nguished Service Award recognizes the good works of someone who has spent many years in catechesis helping individuals and communi(es encounter the Good News of Jesus. The 2018 NCCL Dis(nguished Award was presented to St. JPII parishioner Dr. Sue Grenough at their annual conference in Chicago in May. In her many years spreading the Good News of Jesus, she has served as a high school La(n teacher, DRE, Arch-Diocesan Director in Louisville (KY) for 16 years where she implemented mentoring in the office. She has also served as President of NCCL. She accepted this award in such humble fashion, sta(ng, I can t breathe and sharing a favorite quote of hers from Pierre Teilhard de Chardin SJ, Joy is the sure image of the presence of God.

Mrs. Haas also participated in the Clark County School Safety Commission meeting. This was a great collaboration of school safety experts on a variety of topics. 7 Sacraments & Sacramental Preparation Baptisms: Typically celebrated at weekend Masses. A Baptism Preparation Session is required for parents. The next session is August 5, 2018 immediately following the 11:15 Mass at the St. Paul. Confessions: Available Friday mornings at 11:15am at the St. Joe Hill and Saturdays at 4:15pm at the St. Paul.
